To me the original SMB Hammer Bros are kind of weird. We're used to the Hammers of the Hammer Bros being cartoony Mallets, but in the original they throw what little like the actual Hammer form your Dad's Toolbox, which makes them feel much more dangerous. I also can't tell whether or not they're already wearing Helmets.
The page says that "Yoshi" is both the singular and plural, but I can't recall ever seeing "Yoshi" used as the plural.
