Seems a little heavy on inference, in my mind.

I want to add King Triton as a example for Good Parents but I do think he's very controversial TV parent, so I'll start a discussion first.
While he is an Overprotective Dad, I found his idea of not wanting Ariel to go above the sea as justified, as Ariel could have gotten herself killed by humans. Triton's fear of humans isn't irrational either because humans eat fish. Also, his wife was killed by them in the prequel, making his protectiveness over Ariel more justified and understandable.
Plus, when it was revealed that Ariel had a crush on a guy, he had no problem with her infatuation and even encourages it (when normally, father have problems with their daughters dating) until he finds out Eric is a human, which is understandable, considering that (I'll repeat it again) humans eat fish. Also, I don't see his fear of Ariel's safety as "overprotective," as when Ariel decided to run away, he didn't see Ariel for over 3 days and he had no idea where she was.
You may say "oh, but he destroyed Ariel's grotto!!!" Well, what King Triton did was very nasty, but he shows remorse for what he did, and I think it's kind of silly to judge his brand of parenting by one simple mistake. He also attempted a Heroic Sacrifice for his daughter, and at the end of the movie, he decides to allow his daughter to get married.
So this may be why I think he qualifies as a good parent.
