Has it ever been discussed why shadow has a equal self individual character trope page after sonic himself, even though hes not as reknown or even as a main role staple of the series with sonic.

There should be 2 individuals that deserve equal billing with sonic that basically share his whole iconic series brand. Miles Tails Prower and Dr. Ivo Eggman Robotnik.

Shadow maybe a importantly popular character, but based on how much controversy and the fandom division, hes not really reguarded as a main face of the series.

Partially agreed. He is important as evidenced by the Episode Shadow DLC in Sonic Forces and many previous appearances, but not quite what I'd consider a staple. At least his page seems to be about equal to what Eggman's page would be in wiki markup, though Tails's section is too short to deserve a separate page (his page is 58K+ chars, Eggman's would be 54K+, Tails's would be only 27K+).

However, I must say that neither of our two separate article hedgehogs' original pages (Team Sonic and GUN, respectively) were too long, so I don't think even splitting for this two was needed.

Shadows DLC was just a bonus for the sake of making modern sonics more extra for exploitation of new modern sonic gameplay. Not because hes that popular.

Shadow isnt created to have constant fame and appearance appeal with the main lead and define the setting by having a cemented role to sonic that can never get old. Shadows like a niche rival type. Hes got the popularity to build a iconic brand and possibly a franchise, but lacks the same timeless concept that tails and knuckles have that have pushed them into classic mainstream marketing fan recognition with sonic and eggman.

Shadow represents a timed and outdated stranger build from a time that can't generate enough novelty to put him as a permanent sonic face and a solid mass marketetble image with all adaptable possibilty to af Adapt to anything sega wants to try to use and exploit.

Short story, shadz is made to be cool like darth vader not be remembered elevated timelessness like darth vader.

There are several characters who are on the trope page (and have they the trope listed in their character entries) who don’t qualify for every single trait on the Darth Vader Clone list. A character can still fit the trope even if they don’t possess every single trait.

The debate in question is if Shadow qualifies for the Darth Vader Clone trope with the following reasoning:

"Darth Vader Clone: Black color scheme? Check. Anti-Villain/complex motivations? Check. Association with the color red? Check. Low, deep voice? Check. Dark parallels to the main protagonist? Final battle with said hero takes place on a planet-destroying weapon? Check. Check. Is revealed to be acting on the orders of another villain (Gerald, like Palpatine, was a physically weaker old man)? Check. Does a Heel Face Turn near the end of the story and goes out in a Heroic Sacrifice? Check (even if he was brought back). Also, in the Shadow the Hedgehog Video Game, Shadow's Chaos powers have a Light and Dark Side much like the Force. Also, Black Doom (the main villain of the game) continuously tempts Shadow to The Dark Side. With all that said, how does Shadow not qualify as a Darth Vader Clone?"

While I understand the logic, the trope in question is way more specific than the above reasoning for Shadow to qualify.

These are the following categories that Shadow lacks that are on the trope page itself. Shadow does not...

  • Wears a life support mask.
  • Wear Dark armor of any kind
  • Does not have a Badass Cape
  • He's related to Sonic in appearance only
  • Is not disgured in any way.
  • Does not carry a weapon, his game being the exception rather than the rule.
  • Has no minions to speak of.

But the main reason I say is because Shadow's design really not invoke vader in any way shape or form, and I feel like the trope is a bit shoehorned. But that's just me, if there's a solid enough agreement to keep it then I''ll leave it be.
