Lame Excuse is no longer a trope. Does any of the tropes listed there apply?
Lame Excuse: In the first episode she made up an excuse that her outfit was so terrible because the mannequin was too thin. Ru and other contestants pointed out that she could very easily solve the problem by padding the mannequin, to which she quickly said she just didn't want to.
During the third episode she was the only one who couldn't think up a western inspired cowgirl outfit for the runway and just wore a completely mundane outfit one would wear to the market, citing that she didn't want to look like an offensive "mammy". The other contestants (and judges) didn't seem to buy her claim and interpreted as laziness and a lack of creativity (note that she was also recycling the outfit she wore during the challenge), as no one in the history of Texas has ever been offended by a loving tribute to cowboy fashion.
During the reunion Ru pressed her further for an explanation for her non-country outfit, and Mystique threw out a truly bizarre incoherent ramble that seemed to vaguely imply she thought Mexican drug cartel would kill her mom if she wore a cowgirl hat on tv. Ru didn't buy it either.
