I'm ambivalent on the topic. As a prequel compared to the rest of them being in chronological order, it sort of stands apart. But writing order feels like a similarly-compelling argument.
Eyeh, I don't think that it ought to be listed as the fourth entry, since it's separate from the original series timeline involving Penny's adventures. Maybe if we separate it out slightly to more clearly indicate "Penny stories" versus "Side stories"?
That sounds good, but should we indicate the side stories aren’t all written chronologically?
That would work. Really, we have one prequel and then the rest are pretty much chronological sequels as I understand it.
True. At least for now, we might see more of the prequel era in a later book (probably not the next one though, I think that Monster had a couple unnamed new girls who felt like they were being set up as the next protagonists) and that would be fine by me.
FWIW, there's a prequel story involving Bull, and how he wound up in L.A., as well as his first meeting with Goodnight.
What is that book, so we can add it to the list? Since Spider is Goodnight well after the first meeting.
It's a 99 cent Kindle buy for the collection right now. On a side note, I remember there being a short story posted on the blog with an early Brian Akk, I think up against Marvelous? Was that ever published in a book, do you know?
I’d never even heard of the short stories, but please pm us or post to the thread if you find out?
Summer of Lob is much better, though, and, surprisingly, it isn't even the best tale in that anthology.
Should characters Cleric and Peggy be on this page due to only being seen or mentioned in one book so far?
Hide / Show RepliesThanks. That does make me feel bad about not writing up folders for characters like Ampexia, Palooka Joe, Bismuth, Accessorizer, Pretty Bubbles, and Organism One, but there's only so much time to trope and I have a lot less of it lately.
She Who Wots: "Wot" is the present tense first- and third-person singular conjugation of the verb "wit," an archaic verb meaning to known or to learn. So She Who Wots is literally "she who knows," which fits with what was said when she battled The Librarian.
Should I Did Not Give that Spider be listed earlier on both this page and the first book's page when all of the books in the series are listed? It was written fourth in the series, not last or sixth, and the subsequent books sometimes reference it (like with Mammon's reappearance).
