If I had to hazard a guess, it's probably because of The Blackest Night, which gives a damage-absorbing shield for a few seconds. When used at the right time, it can (potentially) let a Dark Knight avoid taking damage altogether.
But again, that's "potentially". Most tankbuster attacks will go right through TBN's shield.

In what way is the Dark Knight considered an Avoidance tank? Last I heard, FF 14 lacks dodging mechanics.
