I gave it several days to see if there were any further responses. I've just axed them.
If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
I may as well ask about Kenpachi's example and Unohana's example for Sense Freak in the same place.
How are the two examples for their love of fighting related to the Sense Freak trope description? I don't see how Sense Freak is more applicable than Blood Knight; I don't understand how the trope applies at all. The trope description page lists Tousen as Bleach's only example, and that one I understand perfectly. I don't get the Unohana/Kenpachi examples, especially since their love of fighting isn't claimed to be linked to them being somehow "non-human" beings that have entered, and obtained, the sensory experiences of the human form that they previously didn't have access to.
For ease of discussion, I've listed the Unohana/Kenpachi examples below so that they're in the same place:
- Sense Freak: Kenpachi thrives on the feelings and sensations of an all-out fight rather than defeating or killing an opponent. He eagerly makes himself Willfully Weak, giving opponents handicaps to help them, and stops attacking when his opponent can no longer fight. If he identifies a Worthy Opponent, he fears killing them to the point of subconsciously shackling his power to ensure it won't happen.
- Sense Freak: She [Unohana] may look like a prim and proper lady, but she deeply enjoys fighting. She learned Healing Kidou so that she could enjoy fighting longer and contrasts this with Kenpachi's Willfully Weak approach, with both actions serving to prolong a battle as long as possible.
