I added a little bit about Characters pages to How to Pick a Good Image a while back (based on ATT), as it didn't really cover them - there's now a follow-up ATT trying to clarify a couple more points, if anyone's interested.
If that reaches a consensus I’ll put in a request to update both Administrivia pages and document it.
