From the start, it used Trish Stratus vs Jazz but that wasn\\\'t model vs wrestler. That was bigger stronger challenger willing to do anything to get the title. Trish did have a modeling background that Jazz lacked due to having spent it in sports and pro wrestling, but that\\\'s not what the angle or \\\"storyline\\\" was about. Trish Stratus vs Victoria was about Victoria being insanely violent and holding some grudge against Trish Stratus back from the time \\\'\\\'they where both finess models.\\\'\\\' Victoria had more athletics on her resume, had worked on the independent circuit and had been through developmental, unlike Stratus, but that\\\'s not what their feud was about. The closest thing Trish had to a model vs wrestler feud was against Stacy Keibler, \\\'\\\'Keibler\\\'\\\' being the model who was trying to win the title through unorthodox methods because she wasn\\\'t good enough to beat Stratus in a plain wrestling match.

Beth Phoenix vs Candice wasn\\\'t model vs wrestler either but more along the lines of bigger stronger challenger wants the champion\\\'s belt. Candice vs Melina was closer to model vs wrestler, as Melina actually did state her case for why learning the business on the independent and foreign circuits made her better, but most of this was online rather than on television. Laycool vs Mickie James wasn\\\'t model vs wrestler, especially not when \\\'\\\'Beth Phoenix\\\'\\\' joined them and Maria Kanellis joined James. It was just Laycool making fat jokes about James, as they would later the Bella twins, and Neidhart, as well as joke about Kelly\\\'s body odor and call Phoenix manly. Maybe Neidhart and Phoenix union against Laycool was this trope but hold that thought.

To claim the genre is dead while only citing WWE examples seems short sighted. Maybe it is dead in WWE, but given the feuds already mis characterized in the attempt to explain the point, I\\\'m not even sure I can trust that. But let\\\'s say it was true. I\\\'m pretty sure La Tigresa vs Amarillis was a feud before any WWF example and yes, I\\\'m sort of falling into the same trap since their feud was really more than just that but as late as 2015, one of women\\\'s wrestling pockets in Puerto Rico EWO is running an anti diva thing, one of the front runners openly admitting to being inspired by Tigresa. Yuzuki Aikawa, one of the most successful Joshi of her time, is targeted by her peers explicitly because of her model background. If that\\\'s all too far away, consider Jessicka Havok\\\'s feud with glamor model turned pro wrestler Reby Sky or her crashing the knockout\\\'s swim suit calender thing. The later didn\\\'t become a feud in of itself but the message was pretty clear, especially when Jazz-Trish is used as precedent.

It read to me like there was a desire to spread the word on [[https://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCEQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.diva-dirt.com%2F108871%2Fsmackdown-redux-march-26th-2015-a-war-of-words%2Fcomment-page-6%2F&ei=GMhUVeqYNKPD7gbWvIDoBw&usg=AFQjCNFvn_dUW_YZVhDtXEXpvUgchBlfyA&sig2=UGVkSta25oLlaSPU8e4cTg this article]], in regards to fan complaints about wrestlers getting pushed because of their looks before any inherent talents or abilities and how it disproportionately is directed towards women. I can sympathize with that.

I can also sympathize with celebrating the failure of the AJ Lee vs Total divas feud, which I personally thought was dumb. But did it fail because model vs wrestler no longer works, or because Phoenix and Neidhart\\\'s Divas Of Doom angle wasn\\\'t {{seven year|rule}}s removed yet? Did it fail because one of the targets had much more wrestling experience than Lee? Because another had been relegated was doing more or less the exact same thing Lee had been doing when she was first brought to the main roster? I\\\'m not convinced deader than disco is the correct place to put this.
