After rereading chapter 4, I added a lampshade note below ImproperlyPlacedFirearms to note that while most of the SWA\'s weapons are difficult to obtain in Italy, this observation is also made in-fiction. It might just be speculation on my part, but an obvious next conclusion is that the SWA avoids using standard military hardware to help maintain plausible deniability.
