Really it does do a good job in its first line: \\\"The contrived explanation is the official one\\\" which is translated into \\\"Explanations people think are bad\\\".

This trope is in fact contingent on several really stupid points. For one thing it seems to misdefine VoodooShark, or at least flanderises it. For another \\\",the creators themselves must be entirely serious about their explanation\\\" does not distinguish it not provide anything more than a really inane point for a trope. It also like to talk about \\\"the fans\\\" but is this really appropriate for a fandom trope? Replace \\\"the fans\\\" with ThisTroper and see how it feels.

That something is bad, isn\\\'t a trope. Flaws are not tropes. They canbe of interest and we have pages on BadWriting but that bad writing must be categorisable, be of a common flaw, be linked to common habits, common causes and be linked in a shared experience. This will not do such a thing.

*\\\"Occident: countries from the West.\\\"
**\\\"Occidental Otaku\\\" therefore implies otaku from the West. This does not necessarily mean weeaboo, just dork.
**Article says that it\\\'s an AnimeTrope referring to characters that are fans of Japanese media. This would make them rather weeaboos than otakus (or at least, weeaboos first, otakus second).
***Article title is Occidental \\\'\\\'\\\'Otaku\\\'\\\'\\\'.

So if this is just weeaboos that visit Japan/are in Japanese stories, how are they not just Weeaboos?
