The edits you make are rather lengthy, and don\'t seem to have much regard to the nature of the MerchandiseDriven trope itself (although I was partly guilty of the same thing). There\'s no official connection between Sakamoto\'s statement and Pokémon, so maybe it\'s best to just state that the Pokémon anime is often accused of being MerchandiseDriven, that Sakamoto made a statement that suggests the contrary, and whether it has any relevance to Pokémon is up to the reader?

I guess this is more of a, \\\"just bugs me,\\\" but think about the amount of premeditation involved in many of these scams. For the Mentos example, for instance, they would have had to plan that in advance, with no intention of paying for their meal. ValuesDissonance, or just criminal? Take your pick.
