If you look at the edit page, you'll have noticed that I edited a lot of what was on the page. Looking back, I have no clue as to why I failed to put an edit reason down - this is exactly the sort of situation for why it's needed. Well, live and learn.

Briefly, a couple of months ago I kept looking over the page and feeling that there was something distinctly wrong with it. The idea of old, non-mundane powerful items is indeed a trope - but so is the idea of non-mundane powerful items, old or not. Moreover, many of the 'Artifact' tropes didn't include the proviso that they were old. I came to the conclusion that this trope was actually not right for the index and so proposed 'ArtifactOfPower' on the Trope Launch Pad. This was accepted. I thus moved the index over to that page (adding AncientArtifact to the new index) and set this up as a standard trope page.

I have no clue as to whether this is standard procedure or not but the system seemed to recognise everything; more importantly, I am of the opinion (and feel free to disagree) that the paradigm of ArtifactOfPower as supertrope and AncientArtifact as standard trope fits better than AncientArtifact as supertrope. Worse than either, though, is that with the old version of this page restored, there are now two Artifact supertropes. Could there be a constructive discussion about this to work it out?
