Her usefulness was pretty much over after that. According to Ford, Susan was originally intended to be a more dynamic character with telepathic abilities (Jean Grey). As filmed, Susan is a useless whinger whose mental \'powers\' are of little value (Counselor Troi). She\'s fared a little better in the [[Audio/BigFinishDoctorWho Big Finish]] audios; it\'s really a DependingOnTheWriter situation, and her maturity level can vary a lot. Ford has made clipped and barbed remarks in the past and it is clear that she still resents the show, which made her famous while simultaneously destroying her career. (She\'s hardly the greatest actress the island has ever produced but she deserved better than to be saddled with this [[StayInTheKitchen misogynist dialog.]])

Because (A) it\'s primarily complaining about what a rubbish companion Susan was, and (B) because it doesn\'t really fit the trope. This trope is about a person who gets replaced by someone else who goes on to become hugely famous and successful while the original gets forgotten. Susan is hardly forgotten (if anything, the fact that she\'s the Doctor\'s granddaughter means she\'s actually probably one of the more well-remembered classic series companions despite her shortcomings as a character), and the companion who replaced her, Vicki, hasn\'t exactly gone on to be one of the most well-remembered or beloved companions of all time or anything.

It just doesn\'t really seem to fit the trope.

(And also, just as an aside, the last sentence seems to be leading to an example of the kind of \"misogynistic dialogue\" that Susan was saddled with, but the example is from a review by a completely different person.)
