Linde is another prodigal mage in Marth's team, and develops a crush on Merric, which makes them close. What differentiates her with Merric is not just gender, but that Linde has something more personal stake to join the army, in her case, her father Miloah was killed by Gharnef. Miloah is Gotoh's student that was granted access to the spell Aura, thus Linde has some sort of peerage amongst Mages in Marth's army.

* Something horrible happened to a relative of theirs, usually death. This can happen during the course of the game or in backstory. This can make them joining the hero\'s army more personal than \"I\'m just helping...\"
* Has some sort of \'peerage\' within their blood that makes them special or pretty good at magic-slinging, as opposed to Merric who mostly had to learn.
* Has association with Lightning, usually either by starting out with a Lightning spell, or specializing into Thunder Mage. This is because Aura would later become Light spell, so Lightning is the closest of Anima to refer on this. Or, if you want it to be more simplified, usually just NOT using Merric\'s specialized element (Wind)
* They tend to breed Mage families.

I removed the proposed examples because it becomes too long to read. Therefore, I will just list up the candidates in a straight line for ease to read (Linde is omitted because she\'s the namesake):

Mae, Delthea, Tailtiu, Tine/Linda, Miranda, Lilina, Nino, Lute, Ilyana, Nyx.

So from here we got, sorted from top priority to least priority:
* An unpromoted female, youthful Anima mage.
* Normally has another mage, usually the Merric, that they can pair/bond over with.
* Something horrible has happened to a relative of theirs, usually death. This can make them joining the hero\'s army more personal than \"I\'m just helping...\"
* Has some sort of \'peerage\' within their blood that makes them special or pretty good at magic-slinging, as opposed to Merric who mostly had to learn.

From here, we tend to have youthful female unpromoted Anima mage (often times with the preference on Lightning/Thunder magic, as a small nod to Linde's Aura which was considered an Anima magic in her game, close enough with Lightning) and tends to have links with the Merric or another magic caster, and often times, they have an origin that state that they really have great magic potential (either family or something), and often times, the enemy faction tends to have damaged them somehow or just specifically targeting them for their plans. And whenever there is a generational system, the Linde will usually have magic-attuned children (or in case of Fates, the Merric), so it is usually a good incentive to pair the Merric and Linde together. There are times that the Linde did not come paired with the Merric, but also possesses the other traits (youthful unpromoted female anima mage, preference in lightning, having suffered something personal from the bad guys). Unlike Merric, Linde is self-made or sorts, they don't have a magic mentor like Wendell following them around.

Examples of this archetype (and their reasons) include:
* Linde
** Youthful (All of them, save one, have it)
** Joins as an unpromoted Anima Mage (All of them have it)
** Has a crush with Merric
** Aura spell
** Father killed by Gharnef
* Mae (for Celica)
** Bickers around with and eventually ends up marrying Boey
** 'Big, hurty lightning' (starts out with a Thunder spell)
* Delthea (for Alm)
** Is Luthier's rebellious, devil-may-care younger sister
** Has great magic potential that Duma's Faithful kidnapped and brainwashed her.
* Tailtiu
** Is one of Azelle's stronger predestined couple.
** Is a Thunder Mage that comes with Thoron and born from Friege family that specializes in Thunder Magic.
** In a game with generation system, her children are all mages (Arthur and Tine)
* Tine/Linda
** Is Arthur/Amid's sister.
** Abused to hell and back and saw Tailtiu/Ethnia die in despair because of Hilda, making Tine/Linda hate that woman and the Empire in general.
* Miranda
** Didn't have any direct connection with Asbel (the Merric character)
** Whole family slaughtered by Frieges, making her bitter.
* Lilina
** A former 'Merric', though didn't interact with Lleu (though usually the player made them compete on who'll be the main mage)
** Is given a Thunder tome when recruited
** Her father Hector was killed by the Bern generals.
* Nino
** While Jaffar is the main pair, she can easily pair with the Merric character Erk, resulting an edited ending.
** Her family was killed by Nergal and she got adopted and abused by Sonia. Then Nergal had her foster family Black Fang killed one by one.
** Would become the mother of two mages: Lleu and Raigh.
* Lute
** Formerly put as a Merric. She does have a magic-using pair being Artur.
* Miriel
** Defies the 'youthful' part.
** Is the only Anima Mage in the Shepherds besides Ricken.
** Her child is the Anima Mage Laurent.
* Orochi
** Does not directly serve under a Royal Sibling, much like Hayato.
** The one she directly served, Mikoto, was killed early in game and she was pretty crushed by it
** When paired with Hayato, can greatly boost the magic capabilities of Hayato's daughter Rhajat.

(Didn't include Nyx because she had things more common with Soren, a Merric. Also not including the Tellius ones since while Ilyana fits the Thunder part, she doesn't fit everywhere else and I'm not sure how Sanaki works)

What do you think of this proposal to fix Merric by using a new archetype (Linde)?

And whenever there is a generational system, the Linde will usually have magic-attuned children (or in case of Fates, the Merric), so it is usually a good incentive to pair the Merric and Linde together. There are times that the Linde did not come paired with the Merric, but also possesses the other traits (youthful unpromoted female anima mage, preference in lightning, having suffered something personal from the bad guys). Unlike Merric, Linde is self-made or sorts, they don\'t have a magic mentor like Wendell following them around.

From here, we tend to have youthful female unpromoted Anima mage who joins early-mid game (often times with the preference on Lightning/Thunder magic, as a small nod to Linde's Aura which was considered an Anima magic in her game, close enough with Lightning) and tends to have links with the Merric or another magic caster, and often times, they have an origin that state that they really have great magic potential (either family or something), and often times, the enemy faction tends to have damaged them somehow or just specifically targeting them for their plans.
