openCapture the flag Videogame
A probably pre-millennial turn-based PC game. You control a faction of either red or blue suited men in an attempt to defend your own flag and finding the others flag. That is, a literal flag, no FPS tropes at all. It's an 8-bit style game by the way.
openSeries of books where a girlcould talk to animals... Literature
So, there's this series f books I read when I was... I don't know, maybe nine or ten? That would be around 2011.
It was fantasy, complete with a fantasy map of a city/kingdom with a wall around it. The main character was a girl who found/was given some kind of an amulet that allowed her to talk to animals (it is not related to Sofia The First). After a while though, the amulet lost its power, but I don't remember why. In terms of characters, the only one I remember is the girl. I think she had blonde hair, but I'm not sure, and that's all I can even think of.
Any help?
openSci fi programme circ 1985-1988 Live Action TV
Ok So I remember watching this at the youth club so it was either on BBC 1 or ITV at around 4-6pm on a week day. I think it was around 1985-1988. Main plot involved aliens who took human form and who wanted to take over the population.... but they always went back to the water and took the form of what I can only remember as wearing a sniper suit. There was a boy who was trying to defeat them and I think (might be totally wrong) there was a mr wilberforce?? I watched in Northern Ireland if that's any use. Cheers!!!!
openWeird American TV show With Time/Dimensional Travel Through (Egyptian) Pyramid/Tomb Live Action TV
There was a TV show I used to watch as a kid, I'm thinking maybe '85-'88 sort of time, that featured a very typical, white American TV family who, on their holiday to Egypt, fall (or are sucked) into a portal that sends them to this (parallel?) dimension or timeline, a crapsack, post-Orwellian, totalitarian fascist police state. The show focused on their efforts to escape and, as I recall, reunite—I think half the family end up in a different location.
open'80s Kids ABC(?) adventure movie time travel to Egypt Live Action TV
First, I have to apologize for how vague this post is, but I've tried very hard to find this show!
I am fairly certain it was a self-contained, live action, made for television movie on ABC (it had the look of ABC in the '80s).
It was about a boy who travels back in time to Egypt to the time of King Tut. He meets an Egyptian girl (possibly a princess) and saves her and I think several others from some evil guy.
The most distinct memory I have of this movie is a scene where the girl is hypnotized by the villain, possibly by a precious jewel or some type of metronome thing that ticks back and forth. She sways back and forth like a snake being charmed and goes into a trance.
In the end, I think the boy travels back to his time, and is unsure if the adventure was real. He discovers he still has the something the girl gave as a thank you(?) and realizes the adventure was 'real'.
Again, sorry for the vagueness!
Edited by pandaissadopenMy father used to play this game... Videogame
My father, rest his soul, played this game that was like a real time tower defense game. It involved creating hybrid animals, such as a lion with the horn of a rhino, or an eagle with the tail of a scorpion, and I remember that there was always a Tyrannosaurus roaring in the beginning, when the logos are displayed. I think it was only the silhouette, but I can't be sure. The last time I saw him play was when I was 5 or 6, over a decade ago. I always thought the game was interesting, but no matter how hard I look, I can't find anything like it. I know it was played on Windows 98.2, or perhaps Windows 95. I can't be sure of that either.
My best efforts to locate the game have turned up a fat sack of nothing; not even my mother can remember the name of the game, and this woman can remember when dinosaurs walked the earth (or at least the sitcom channels). My best guess though, based on the information I have, is that it was called Genewars. But again, I can't be sure.
openAn animated show with sparrows Western Animation
I just remembered watching something as a kid in the '90s or maybe very early 2000s. It was a show about animals living in a wood. I don't remember much of it, except for the fact that it had a group of sparrow warriors. The one who I think was the leader of those warriors had the word 'feather' in her(?) name I think. If it helps, I'm a german. Maybe it was a german show. I don't know. Any help is appreaciated.
openI think the title starts with a C? Western Animation
It aired on HBO Family, I think, in the early-mid 2000's. It was a bunch of trivia stuff run by robots or something and one recurring segment would slowly reveal facts about a famous historical figure, and another involved a chef with word problems, I think? It used a lot of stop-motion animation.
openNew TV show about a missing girl?
What's the new show I've seen commercials for that has a girl looking for another girl she grew up with who's missing?
Edited by Carrieann23openClip from one of the comedy News Programs Live Action TV
I believe it may have been John Oliver, but I'm not sure. There was a segment from one of the comical news shows which showed the origins of the affordable Care act and the Republican plans it came from and at the end it was summed up in a couple of well spoken lines. Any help would be appreciated.
openA book about a girl who runs away to join the army. I think she becomes a paladin Literature
I just want to read it again. But I can't remember the title
openArchie comic wit Jughead in eating contest? Print Comic
There's one Archie comic where Jughead (he's the Big Eater with the funny hat) is in an eating contest but the girls are feeding him as much as possible before the contest, however, he still wins. What's that one called? P.S. I heard it has a girl called Jane Doe in it.
openA horror film about some kind of monster... Film
It was about a woman and a man that is constantly being pursued by a monster. I forgot most of it but the final part was: The woman got separated, while the man seemingly escaped, but it's actually the monster who just happened to peek through his eyeholes. Any ideas?
openHigh-quality Earthbound rip Music
A few months ago I recall seeing a rip (presumably by Silvagunner) of the main theme from Earthbound that halfway through is remixed into the Wallace and Gromit theme. Can anyone locate this for me?
Edited by Automaton120openModern short shown on Boomerang in mid-2000s? Western Animation
I remember this series of shorts that was sometimes shown on Boomerang around 2005-2007. This was one of several modern shorts series unrelated to classic characters. It was probably done in flash. It was about a girl with long brown hair, and a number of strange pets she owned, including some kind of green, possibly dog-like thing. The only episode I remember was about her knowing that someone was licking the peanut butter. So she set up a kitchen camera, which revealed that every pet was licking it. I really wish someone could tell me what this was. Thanks. Also, the girl had dot eyes, I'm really sure.
open2000s Scooby Doo movie with... Western Animation
Which early to mid 2000s Scooby Doo movie has a band competition thing on an island, with one of the band being three attractive girls/women who are witches?
openVideo Game Shows on Cable Live Action TV
Hi, there was this video game show on MTV that aired a few episodes back in about 2006. The episode I saw was a top ten countdown of the worst video games of all time and Superman 64 was number one. It was also not X-Play and I believe only had one host. Back about ten years ago when cable had all these extra HD channels that had no commercials and specialized in certain types of content (one channel was just gaming, another was just extreme sports), the gaming channel had all these awesome let's plays of Hitman Blood Money and TMNT. The network provider was called Voom, by the way and the channel was called Gameplay HD. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find those let's plays or any other content on the channel. It gave me such great memories. Thanks, in advance!
openChinese tv show Live Action TV
It was quite some years ago but the first episode was two guys beating up a guy then getting expelled and later run into a guy who makes a pact with the two guys to become their blood brother I guess and then some other dimension with doppelgänger tripped a coin which became a boulder and then killed the third guy and his doppelgänger replaced him.
openNo Title Western Animation
This was what must have been an obscure, straight-to-video film from the late 1990s, made with the primitive CGI of the time. It creeped me out at the time, but in spite of that, I saw it several times, and in spite of THAT, I don't remember the title. It was available in a public library in the United States circa 2000. I'm putting it under Western Animation because I believe that it was animated in the western world.
The "plot" consisted of a (CGI) kid on his computer in his room—I remember establishing shots of his house at dusk that bookmarked the thing. The kid, fascinated with early internet, "discovers" a sentient... um... "entity" or two when they show up on his computer screen, and the kid is cool with it. The bulk of the film then becomes a showcase of CGI shorts, connected by the entity/ies (I have NO recollection of what they looked like, but I'm pretty sure they weren't humanoid) presenting them to the kid and him just saying "Wow!" before the thing proceeded, Want to see another? And then they did that for 5-7 shorts. I only recall two of them, and only one of them even remotely well:
1) A mammalian sort of entity (early CGI! you couldn't tell things apart) looking for something lost or stolen. That's all for that.
2) The one that never left me because of how creepy it was to me: Two sentient cyclone-type things, like red ribbon, dance, break up and get back together (they had no faces or limbs... but perhaps clothes, like a hat, and were able to pick things up with phantom arms). All the while, music is being played and a song sung; as a kid I thought it was Spanish pop, but in retrospect I think it may have been Japanese or even Korean. I was debating trying to textualize the melody, but I've seen others try and... it doesn't work well. But if you want me to try, I can.
For all I know those two were the same. The movie ends with the entity/ies disappearing from the screen, and the kid gets called down to dinner. Establishing shot of house, fade to black, end scene.
Any clues would be greatly appreciated.
A children's book where a boy is at the park with his moms and gets separated from them. He tries asking around, but people are like "you have how many moms??? wouldn't you rather have [shows him other families]" He's like "no thank you" and keeps looking. Eventually he finds his moms. Now, I don't remember how many moms he actually had. My memory says... four...? but I could be wrong. Definitely at least two.
