openAction Movie Trilogy Film
Don't remember a lot about them, but what I do know:
- Made in the 70s-80s
- Stars a guy like Rambo, but not him. Neither is Chuck Norris
- All 3 take place in Vietnam
- 1st I don't remember. 2nd is a prequel to the 1st and has the hero shot down during the Vietnam War and taken to a POW camp. He eventually breaks out. 3rd is after the Vietnam War where the hero goes after his girlfriend; climax end in the bad guy's chopper destroyed
openbad guy drives off cliff Film
I remember seeing this one scene from a movie on tv before I left or changed the channel. It showed this bad guy in a car about to run over this guy on foot (who I assume was the good guy) but the good guy jumps out of the way in time and the bad guy can't stop in time and drives off the cliff. It was NOT For Your Eyes Only. For one, the scene was during the day
openLooking for a CGI movie from the early-mid 2000s Film
I only watched the last third of the movie, but it involves a girl saving her city inside an At-at thingy from an Evil Chancellor who tried to execute her father with spinning spikes. Then in that ruckus, some guy assassinated an empress and chaos ensued inside the city in th At-at thingy as the girl and the chancellor in his One-Winged Angel form fight.
Edited by alnair20aug93openCharacters trampled underfoot at a dance? Film
Hey tropers, I remember watching a live-action movie at my friend's house sometime in the early 2000s, probably 2002-2004, in which the main character's parents (?) were killed at a dance when they fell off a stage (?) and were trampled underneath the other dancers. I remember you just see some blood spurting up across the dancer's clothes. The main plot was something to do with a young woman who wanted to be a dancer/singer. I also remember a scene where she was cupping her breasts in front of a mirror. I remember thinking it was pretty stupid and kind of inappropriate (I was a sheltered kid) so it was probably a more teen-oriented movie than something for little kids. I kinda want to find out what it was just out of sheer morbid curiosity.
openAsian Movie about a woman who anger the spirits of the departed in a festival Film
I remember only two things about this movie, one of them is not that much of a spoiler since it's what makes the story goes forward, and the second is a major ending-plot-twist-spoiler:
1 - A woman, the main character, is invited to participate in a festival (I don't recall what kind of festival it was. I take it was a festival for the departed/deceased) and as everyone is taking their seats to watch a certain presentation, she sits on the front row. Everyone looks at her as if she was a spawn from Hell, and she looks around her and see a lot of people that weren't there. The front row is reserved for the spirits of those that have departed, and by sitting on that row, she has angered them.
2 - (MASSIVE SPOILERS)
We find out (probably on the last minutes of the movie) that the man that have been accompanying her all this time has been dead, which explains many situations when people act rude to him, as in walking straight at him without apologizing or cleaning a table and throwing the scraps at him. Since the main character sat on the front row on the movie's beggining, she saw the man, whereas everyone else not.
I'd be very grateful if anyone could help me find the name of the movie, I've been, sincerely, looking out for it for a few years.
openWhat movie is this referencing? Film
One line in a book I'm reading (Into the Dark, to be exact) mentions "an old movie" that the protagonist apparently saw. Here's the full line:
That sounds too specific to be something that the author just made up. Does anyone know what movie this is a reference to?
openProtection racket gangster killed and put in to a curry and eaten - British TV BBC Film
A one off drama about two men collecting protection racket money in the North of England, enter an Indian restaurant demanding protection money. After some months or years of this, the owner has had enough and kills one of the men and puts him in a curry, the other gangster arrives and is looking for the other gangster, the owner offers him a free curry, but the gangster is really eating his friend in crime. Probably a BBC one off drama between 1995 and 2005. Any ideas?
openA girl adopts a wolf Film
I saw this old movie back in Elementary school, but we never finished wathcing it. It was live action and told the story of a girl whose brother was killed by wolves. She lives alone, and one day a wolf came into her home. She didn't trust it at first, but eventually warmed up to it. If I remember correctly, she named the wolf Rantu.
openStealing race Film
I don't remember if it was a movie or tv show but basically two men where released naked in a city and had to make the most money possible. They stole stuff like clothing and like I remember a scene where one of the guys dirties a jacket of a stranger and says that he will clean it and give it back (to use it). And basically at the end who had the most money (or object value) won. I remember that like at the end both guys had the same but one won because of a coin the other gave him at some point. Idk if I'm making sense.
openmovie about a man a a woman who kinda wante to have a plataonic marriage Film
does anyone know the name of a movie about a guy who was divorced because his wife couldn't stand the fact he didn't want to have sex with her, and then he like falls in love with a teacher after he hears her talking with her students about how romantic love wasn't real but an invention of recnt times? and then they get married but he can't have sex with her either, and at first she thinks it's fine, that they can be happy only talking and spending time together but then her mother/friend (i don't remember) convince her that thats not right so she leaves him, but then he goes and puts a song in the radio for her in front of her appartment and they get back together?
I think they from the start decided to have a relationship without romance, but the woman didn't know it was also going to be a relationship without sex, in one part the were having a dinner and he got drunk, and the woman tried to romance him into bed, I dunno if he got drunk so it would be easier, but in the end it didn't work and he asked her to stop wich hurt her feelings
openOld Sci Fi movie clip from 09/05/13 David Letterman Show Film
In an interview with Benedict Cumberbatch about Star Trek Into Darkness, David Letterman plays a clip of some unknown old black and white sci fi movie (maybe Japanese) where the hero fights three mooks (who look somewhat like Robby the Robot), hitting two of them with a mid-air split kick. Does anyone know what movie that clip is from?

Edited by TroperFromItalyopenExample for WhatTheFuAreYouDoing/'eyelid kung fu Film
The fim (Asian, color, dubbed into English) starts off with a guy doing what a narrator calls 'cooking kung fu' around a bunch of pots with stuff cooking in them. Later in the film., the guy's silly friend says he does exercise also and starts winking and blinking. The hero asks "What's that?", the friend replies "Eyelid kung fu!", and the hero answers "That's not kung fu!" That's SILLY!".
openHorror Movie With A Surprise Ending Film
I recall seeing this movie, I believe, on either Netflix or on television but it was never in theaters. Just to be clear about that lol
I can't recall the year but sometime between AFTER the 90s would be my best guess, in fact I'd say sometime between 2001 and 2008 since I believe it was before Obama was prez.
The movie started out as a kind of "traditional" women in prison or isolation-type horror movie, NOT a torture/splatter punk movie if I can recall, but closer in many ways to a Cube movie. It was not a Cube movie though, I seen all of those religiously, so I'd remember if it were (also there are only like three). The film's setting was also VERY dark, with passageways and the like.
In the movie a group of women are being held captive, tortured and killed in various ways (trying to cause fear I think) by a crazy scientist guy with white hair, for some reason I picture him with white hair but I may be wrong. The movie also had a sci-fi edge to it that became obvious at the end. It is revealed, if I recall during an escape attempt, the character we have been following as the main protagonist is actually working with the crazy people running the death camp.
She and her cohorts are scientists working on a government program because mankind—and to be clear they LITERALLY never mention this AT ALL earlier from what I recall—mankind is at war with an alien race of insect-like beings. However one of them dies because he is exposed to some strong emotion, he explodes. And so the government assumes that fear can literally kill these aliens...
However, it is revealed in a twist that what kills the aliens is, you may want to sit down, LOVE. Yes the love felt between the women in the setting is what defeats the aliens, their friendship and their caring and attempt to help each other, not fear. So while the evil government types wanted to torture them for fear in the end it was their love, their caring, et cetera which saves mankind. Presumably this was a prequel to the new My Little Pony?
No but seriously they literally end on the "friendship is magic" theme of defeating the insect alien things with love. It's actually a surprisingly good movie I would love to see again with my GF just to see her reaction.
And to be clear, it's not Cube, or a Cube sequel, NOT is it The Forgotten which also had aliens defeated by a mother's love but for different reasons. It was some kind of Straight To Video deal because I either saw it on Netflix or TV. I DID NOT rent it from blockbuster which is another reason I'm sure it was not in the 90s.
If I had to make a guess, I'd say it was around 2005 to 2008 but I forget the precise year and it wouldn't surprise me if it had been made like four or so years earlier from either of those dates.
I really would love to see the film again and any help would be massively appreciated!
open80S (90S) KIDS DINOSAUR VHS SINGALONG Film
Sorry if this isn't allowed, but as I recall the item I'm looking for is a VHS tape from the 80s/early 90s, not a TV show (though in retrospect it certainly could be an episode from a show). What I'm looking for (as my child mind recalls) is a singalong/informational children's video about dinosaurs featuring a narrator in a white space suit (?), white face paint and big round red glasses (female). I recall it featuring a stegosaurus, brachiosaurus and tyrannosaurus for sure, but others were included. I've searched and searched and can't seem to find the name of the video. As mentioned, it was slightly a singalong as I recall, but also very informational for children. Any thoughts would help—it's driving me NUTS! TY!
openPuppet Show(?) About A Dog Hero Film
This is a long one but this is all the info I could put together. Now this may or may not have actually been a dog, per se, but I have some distinct memories in my mind and that is the closest I can get to a specific description in one sentence.
Basically, when I was a kid—so we're talking about 1991 at the most but likely around 1989 or 1990—I recall watching, I BELIEVE, Showtime with my mom and she was recording the movie "Go Bots: Battle of the Rock Lords" on VHS. I still have it but I would take hours to find it here. I think it was Showtime or possibly HBO, but it was way back in the day and they had this kind of countdown or timer between shows, I recall that distinctly so if it happens that neither channel was like that then whatever channel WAS like that was where I saw this thing.
And for some reason, even though I'm pretty sure it was Showtime, part of me thinks Disney Channel maybe?
(edit: another distinct possibility is some kind of PPV)
Anyway...
I distinctly recall this commercial for it, wherein it was basically depicted the villain, a human character who wore a suit and glasses and was kind of a blond guy with a high-ish voice, declaring he would send the main character to the moon. This I remember DEFINITELY, in fact I used to think it was called something like "Captain K-9" cause I seem to remember him using that name, but he said specifically he'd send said guy to the moon.
(edit: it may have also been "Commander" instead of captain)
The show itself I only saw a bit of but I remember it was a kind of puppet show, with humans interacting with some kind of dog or something in a red suit with a cape. I seem to recall him not talking or barking so who knows about that. What I do know is that at the end the bad guy is not just defeated but is somehow like, "Oh noes my plan backfired" and I want to say he was surrounded by these tribble type things...presumably from the moon.
I never saw it really all the way through that I can recall, but I distinctly remember the trailer being shown with a lot of other kids stuff before Battle of the Rock Lords. This was around the same period as some other cartoons I know and so I would say it was no later than 1991 and probably earlier—I was born in 85, which would explain why I recall so little if it was released on TV in 89 or 90 since I would have been four or five. No older than six say because I remember stuff from later on much better.
openCartoon movie about animals trying to deliver a letter to santa claus Film
Ok, so I remember that the main guy was called Freddy and was a ferret, then there was a stick insect called walker that knew a lot of stuff and a salmon bird called cari who couldn't fly. Near the end, they go into "Santa's boat" and there they find a rat called Roderick Aloysius T-something and break the letter they were supposed to be delivering (it was sort of like a roll of paper). Another thing I should add is that I thought it was from Scandinavia (I'm not sure of the exact country, tho), but I could be wrong. Sorry for not giving more detail, but that's all I remember.
openCalculate days remaining in a normal life, then live life to the fullest Film
Hi Tropers! You all are freaking awesome! Happy I found such a cool thing!
Know this MOVIE?
A young man adds up (for his girlfriend) the days remaining in a normal lifetime... Then they go on to live a more free lifestyle.
The movie centers around a sort of underground gang of children, all controlled by an older man. Drugs, homelessness, sewers, petty theft..
In the end the pair are snow-sledding with kayaks in Iceland or someplace like that.
May be European or American... Probably later than 1999, and earlier than 2008.
It wasnt a Countdown or Deathwatch or grim trope at all... More of a "Snap out of my own apathy, stop hanging around losers wsting my time" kind of trope.
It always stuck with me.
Thanks for your help!
PS... If I'm 35, and I can fully enjoy life until im 75, then I only have less than 15000 days to GET ON WITH IT. Merry Christmas. Peace be with us all.
Edited by blarvinopenAmateur alien encounter film/documentary? Film
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help. This is going back ten, maybe fifteen years - I remember watching on UK tv late at night a short live action film/documentary set in an isolated house in the US countryside. A bunch of teens and I think younger kids too keep seeing this weird red light coming from outside the house in the woods. It was filmed kind of like "found-footage" IIRC, and was low budget. It gets genuinely scary later on when ultimately the house is approached and entered by a group of "grey" type aliens who look a bit like the ones from Close Encounters crossed with the Star Wars Cantina band. All the kids totally lose their shit (of course) but I can't remember how it ended. I don't think the aliens attacked anyone- it was more that their silent, encroaching presence was just plain creepy. It was cheaply shot, but I was very, very freaked out by it, as at the time, it seemed so eerie and strangely believable. Anyone know what this could be?
openJapanese (I believe) Live-Action Fantasy Movie Film
I'm trying to remember the name of a Japanese fantasy live-action movie I saw when I was a kid. It involved a samurai-type guy who was... made of clay (?) I believe? I think he was abandoned as a baby and a man found him and...made him limbs out of clay (??) It was a weird movie, but I remember loving it. The guy has to defeat monsters to collect...something. One of the monsters is a beautiful woman who turns into what I remember as a centipede. If this rings a bell to anybody, I'd be thrilled. Thanks either way!
1) It's an action/espionage thriller directed by Danny Boyle
2) This movie stars various actors from a popular live-action children's action-adventure TV franchise
3) The logo is a circle inside a triangle below three lines
4) It was seen at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival
5) It's from TriStar Pictures and GK Films
