Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
As a general rule, if people have said that something shouldn't be on the wiki but you see instances of it that are still around, it just means that nobody has gotten around to deleting it yet, possibly because nobody knows that it's there.
So yes, you are free to delete it.
Edited by SeracAll right, that sounds good; a lot of the fan content has its own pages anyways, so I’ll get around to cleaning the rest up at some point.
Edited by Notsofriendly^ There's a bit of a gray area with Team Fortress 2 though. Since Valve no longer takes priority development of the game, a lot of the new content through the years have been built by a fan community and later authorized by Valve as official content.
Left 4 Dead 2 as of last year began receiving new content and fixes by a fan community that was authorized by Valve with further community updates coming as warranted.
I just wanted to make this point before any chainsaws are taken with no mercy so that people will at least check first to see what's true fan content and what fan content was promoted to official content by IP holders.
Edited by Ngamer01Ahhhh, that's a very good point. I think I'll start with a few pages that I know for certain can be cut down, first.
I’ve seen word going around that discussing fan-made content is generally looked down upon in moments subpages. However, I’ve also seen many pages — like the TF2 subpages — that have vast sections dedicated to fan content that have gone untouched. Should those sections be deleted anyways? And is this “no fan content” rule down in writing somewhere?
