Hmm, Hollywood Personality Disorders was cut recently but it didn't mention
the mother.
Under his character entry, his Brother's schizophrenia is listed as part of a Freudian Excuse for his jerky behavior early in the show... maybe that's what you are remembering?
I just remember it before I even really knew who Alex was that someone named Alex's mother had schizophrenia and remember having it confirmed before finding out that his brother also got diagnosed
I think we at least had a trope called The Mentally Disturbed (which maybe isn't a great title if this is what it covers, but...)?

In the summer of 2020 I found a trope with schizophrenia that wasn't funny schizophrenia or schizophrenia conspiracy. In it I found Grey's anatomy where it said that Alex's mother suffered from schizophrenia, which I couldn't possibly have known at the time because I've never seen it but I started watching it there in the summer and I found out that his mother did indeed have schizophrenia. But I can't find the trope anywhere or the mention of his mother's schizophrenia in the tropes for the show or any other related tropes for that matter. So I'm just wondering what happened to the trope? Was it moved/renamed? If so where is it now? Or was it removed? If so what was it called?
