Added my bombs to the drafts of most concern.
Rawr.Maybe they could put the drafts up for grabs. I sent them a PM.
v Well, who knows, maybe they'll agree.
Edited by SirenaThey're still working on them, so that's not likely.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessLet me piggy-back onto War Jay's observations, taking an equal risk as coming across as biased and angry. Myself and other tropers have noted that the launch pad is swamped at times with trope "proposals" that consist of one-line descriptions and no examples. The Mods are working overtime to do what they can, but sometimes they must feel like they are rowing upriver. I don't like dropping bombs without posting the reason why, but I don't want to spend all day doing just that. As other tropers have also observed, there may not be much we can do about it. Okay, shutting up now and going back to my coloring book.
Anything that needed to be said had already been said at that point, and I did not wish to dogpile.
Rawr. There are 3 hats on this TLP. Requesting a mod discard.
Rawr.I'm sorry I didn't mean to make people feel angry and like they're being ignored. I didn't know there was any rush to bring the tropes to perfection. I've had lots of other things to do, online and offline. I didn't know I was causing any inconvenience.
I'm sorry, but I'm not sure don't know what's unclear about my description of Unwritten Rules.
That's why I wasn't responding. I wasn't sure how to edit the description. Also, I didn't know people would be feeling that annoyed about it.
I don't see how my example "muddles" the description.
I was describing one situation, and giving examples of why the rules in that situation are unwritten.
The examples I give, and solicit, are specifically not of the trite, "People sit on chairs" variety.
Okay, other people can start editing Unwritten Rules and Fourth Wall Farewell if they want.
I'll agree, the two I proposed in October weren't very good so they can disappear.
It's not that there's any rush, but that when people have concerns, you should at least respond to the person and make a dialogue. I'm not frustrated out of impatience, but out of never getting acknowledgement.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'm sorry I didn't respond soon enough. I just made some edits to Fourth Wall Farewell. I haven't decided how to edit Unwritten Rules. You and others can if you want.
Well, we can take the description-fixing discussion there. That's really all I've been wanting anyway.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'm sorry, I still haven't decided how to edit those two to make them satisfactory. Feel free to make suggestions.
On another topic, folks didn't like my trope idea, "The Pick-a-Noun of God." Maybe The X of God would be a better title? I understand the objections to the trope, but then I found another trope, "The Ballad of X", and I'm not sure how that's a more valid trope.
From the trope description:
"See also The Something Song and Something Blues. Note: actual Ballad form requires specific meter and rhythm, and not all of these examples fit that classification in its strictest sense. The trope is about the name, not the song structure."
Edited by DessertsunriseI'm not sure this is the best place to ask, honestly. Try Trope Talk.
In any case, I'm not sure about the second, but the first one linked wasn't even made in TLP, so it's hard to say.
And you can't assume I do think those are valid.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI edited my inquiry, I hope you saw that, and I'll ask at the other place. The word "you" was plural, not directed at any particular Troper.
No worries.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure Pureness
I really didn't want to make this thread, especially since it might come off as me just being biased and angry, but I don't think that's accurate.
Dessertsunrise has 4 tropes currently on the TLP. Two of them are abandoned, poorly formatted stubs. But the other two aren't. They're actually pretty much launchworthy...except that they both lack substantial descriptions.
On Fourth Wall Farewell, it apparently took them ages to properly format the draft. Once that was resolved, someone pointed out back in November that the description was lacking, and Dessertsunrise ignored them despite being otherwise active. And on Unwritten Rule, I've been trying for literal months to get them to flesh out the description and so far I've been completely ignored despite them making other updates. Specifically, I think the emphasis on bullying and schools is muddling what the actual trope is, which could use a little more elaboration before diving into hypotheticals.
They just don't seem willing to fix issues unless multiple people start complaining or refusing to hat the drafts until they do, or at the very least they're blatantly ignoring criticisms and with the amount of hats, both drafts could easily be launched without actually addressing the description problems.
I'm not calling for a TLP suspension; I'm just at a loss for what to do since I've been trying to get them to at least acknowledge my issue, but they haven't, and I see the same thing happening with Fourth Wall Farewell.
