Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

I think someone just used this trope to vent about the show without thinking about whenever they fit the criteria or not.
Burn it.
Thomas fans needed! Come join me in the the show's cleanup thread! It has been decided that a Creator's Pet cannot be the main character, who is expected to get focus. The entry seems to me disqualified by that alone.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I've cut it citing this thread.
It also needs 6 months since the current story ends to see if they stay hated enough to count.
Troper mos 123 has added the Creator's Pet entry back, this time with the following context:
"One of the major criticisms both by fans and critics of the series is the shift away from the ensemble nature of the original to a largely dominant focus on Taichi and Agumon. While the main character and his Digimon getting extra focus has always been a part of the franchise, 2020 has been particularly egregious about it, with the duo occupying the dominant role in almost every episode. As the ensemble nature of the most popular digimon series is often cited as one of the main draws, many find the shift to a more traditional "shounen" style protagonsit series jarring to say the least. It's gotten to the stage where a teaser showed Agumon gaining a second Ultimate form before any of the others had even reached that level yet.."
What should we do?
Cut again per this thread, PM them about it, and report them for edit warring if it persists.
The YMMV page of Digimon Adventure: (2020) has Taichi Yagami and Agumon listed as Creator's Pets. The entry is written like this:
"Taichi and Agumon have been accused of becoming this in the reboot. While the main character and his Digimon getting extra focus has always been a part of the franchise, 2020 has been particularly egregious about it, with the duo often robbing other characters of their plotlines and climatic moments and Agumon getting more forms and evolutions before most of the main cast even has their Ultimate level Digimon. The straw that ended up breaking the camel's back for many was the preview for episode 36, which showed that Agumon was gonna get the BlitzGreymon form, another Mega Evolution, before MetalGarurumon has even shown up. Some have started to derisively take to calling the reboot 'Taichi and Agumon's Adventure'."
Okay, I have to ask: is this entry valid or not? Long story short, a Creator's Pet is a character who is loved by the creators and given lots of focus and shilling, but is HATED by the fans. Taichi and Agumon are the main characters and have always been popular amongst Digimon fans, which is why I question the validity of this entry. What do you say?
