I believe the example was cut with a valid edit reason. A Base-Breaking Character divides the fanbase in at least two camps of roughly the same size, whereas The Scrappy is almost universally hated. The page for Creator's Pet states that the trope only applies to the latter: "The Creator's Pet is a combination of being: Hated by fans (The Scrappy); ..."
Makes sense, but still, I thought it was for any characters found to be disliked. Incluiding characters who has defenders.
To win, you need to adapt, and to adapt, you need to be able to laugh away all the restraints. Everything holding you back. No, it has to be near universally hated. By that logic a very large percentage of Base Breaking Characters would count, since by definition they have a substantial fanbase and enough of them are shilled that it would be useless to list them all. Creators Pets have to be near universally disliked. The thing that makes a creators pet extra annoying is that they are shilled and given a lot of focus and deeply disliked by the fandom. Well if you like a character you generally think the talking up is completely justified. I can see how might be excessive, but if you think the character is awesome, that's a case of Awesome Ego.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midMakes sense. Thank you for your help.

Someone edited the example of Creator's Pet on Sonic the Hedgehog. In it, the troper justified themselves by stating the character cannot count as a Creator's Pet since he is a Base-Breaking Character, not a scrappy. In other words, only The Scrappy can be a Creator's Pet.
I'm confused. I thought that in order for one to be a Creator's Pet, they had to be disliked by the fandom, but disliked characters can be either The Scrappy or a Base-Breaking Character. Does this rule really apply? Because I could understand it, as its to avoid vandalism.
