Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread
for ongoing cleanup projects.
I don't think there are any rules against putting links in signatures, but don't post irrelevant stuff in cleanup threads.
Gone to Faerie, no forwarding address. (AO3)Yeah, keep that off the cleanup threads. As for your signature, though, the moderators will have to decide.
Contains 20% less fat than the leading value brand! This seems covered by part of our Forum Rules, the most relevant part in italics:
- Do not post for the sole or primary purpose of advertising your own or any third-party site or product.
- New accounts are restricted from posting external links for a short period of time to prevent spamming. Attempting to circumvent this by putting links in your signature may be grounds for a ban.
- All external links should be relevant to the conversation in which they are occurring.
- You can promote a petition for something, unless it promotes hateful activity. A petition to "Save the Whales" would be okay. A petition to "Nuke the Gay Whales for Jesus" would not. We reserve the right to be as arbitrary as Hell about what petitions will be permitted. Keep it on topic and pleasant. Do not start a topic just to announce a petition.
Don't promote it in the any non-Trash-Heap/Anti-Necromancy thread.
Edited by Playing_with_boyCool, I'll just leave it in my forum signature then.
Hope your prepared for an unforgettable luncheonThere's a problem: it's not just a petition but a request for money. TV Tropes users should not be solicited for money, even indirectly. Links to store pages, crowdfunding sites, donation campaigns, etc. are considered commercial regardless of the intent.
This would only be on topic in an established forum thread specifically for discussing the SCP Foundation, should not go in your signature, and should not be phrased as a solicitation regardless.
In fact, by putting the link in the OP of this ATT query, you are soliciting people.
Edited by Fighteer "It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Yeah, go with Fighteer on this. Sorry for the wrong info, OP.
Got it, it's gone now, thanks for the help.
Hope your prepared for an unforgettable luncheon
I recently heard about the potential legal trouble that the SCP Foundation community could be in due to a Russian man filing an illegitimate trademark with the Eurasian Customs Union and I want to help raise awareness for the problem by temporarily replacing my forum signature with a link to the gofundme page for the site's lawsuit against the man and making a brief mention of it on the cleanp forums for Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard forums. Would this be against wiki policy? I feel like this is important especially since problems for that site may cause issues for this one as well.
