Yeah, as far as I know it's the same policy as why we don't link to scans of Manga or Comics. Not A Mod, though.

But we DO link to scans. You see it all the time on many pages about anime and manga, especially when the anime lags significantly behind the manga.

There is something on the Keep Circulating the Tapes page: "When posting a show, if you know where the show can be illegally obtained, don't post it. Just say that copies exist out there on the internet, and leave it at that."

Fast Eddie himself said we are not supposed to link to complete scans of comics and mangas. Remove them if you see them. Stuff on Google/Youtube is fine however.

^ That clears up the "will TV Tropes get in trouble for this?" issue, but my main issue was linking in the page description. There's quite a big difference between linking a clip in an example for illustrative purposes and linking the entire show in a place where we usually put official releases, particularly if there's already an official release listed.

You Tube links are discouraged mainly because they are impermanent, especially in descriptions. It is generally best practice if a work does not have a permanent website to simply let people Google it if they want to find it, rather than providing a link that may or may not be legal or stay active.

Of course, if the original work in question is from You Tube, then it's a legit link, but that doesn't seem to apply in this case.
