Yep, that's bogus. The trope obviously is talking about how the French are portrayed in American media and what war crimes the Americans did or did not commit in France are not germane.
Yanked it, raising this troper in Mod Central.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThese are the war crimes that troper was talking about, but that's hardly relevant to the article anyway.
Is anybody else a little concerned as to whether this recent edit to the description of French Jerk is kosher? While there's no such thing as a 'clean' war, as a military history buff I've never heard of anything to suggest that the WWII American army in France was atypically guilty of war crimesnote , and it's particularly odd when there's plenty of existing reasons why that particular form of the stereotype doesn't hold up. In light of the lack of an edit reason, I figured it was worth bringing to mod attention.
(The recent edit history of the troper responsible, Harroc, doesn't show anything else questionable, although they are fairly nattery).
