Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

No, if the backdraft happened then it happened, no matter what the provocation (Bob: "I like eggs" Internet: "Bob's a racist!" Rest of the internet: "Boo! Boycott Bob!" would be a legitimate backdraft)
OH MY GOD; MY PARENTS ARE GARDENIIIIINNNNGGGGG!!!!!Point of order: that's an entry for issue #9 of "the new series", and the example was added the same month as the monthly subscription was published, and only two issues have been published since then. I think Internet Backdraft is one of the tropes we put a six-month memorandum on because otherwise everything would be an example.

If the Internet Backdraft is irrational, it might fall under Mis-blamed.
According to Broken Base's description, Internet Backdraft is supposed to be for short-lived, immediate reactions, so requiring a waiting period would defeat the point.

Someone deleted an example of Internet Backdraft from the YMMV page for Runaways on the grounds that the backdraft was an overreaction based on a misinterpretation of events. Does a backdraft have to be rational in order to qualify as a backdraft?
