You can set stuff from the image uploader as avatar? I thought only the avatar uploader could be used...

Got to you forum profile, there's a button there to upload an avatar
The avatar uploader also may not work if your file size is too big. The file must be under 20 KB.

Go to forums, find your forum profile editor, click on it, and click on the browse button on the right-ish side of the screen.

You can't have an avatar displayed anywhere else but thr forums, if that's what you mean.
