I looked for a link on this from Final Battle, but didn't come across it... during the climax or final battle, action repeatedly switches between multiple heroes who are trying to complete their independent (but often linked) tasks. An example is Return Of The Jedi, which cuts between Luke (facing the emperor), Han/Leia/etc. (taking down the generator), and Lando (destroying the Death Star). Often, one hero is in serious danger of being killed or failing, when an action from another hero's scene changes things in another hero's favor. Seen It A Million Times.
When done in a video game, it combines And Now for Someone Completely Different with True Final Boss (examples being Sonic Heroes or Spider Man Shattered Dimensions).
It's bound to exist already.
