I have seen deleted scenes troped before on some pages, in which the description makes it clear that the example is from a deleted scene (sometimes said deleted scene is restored for an "extended edition"). If there is a rule/consensus against doing that, I'm not aware of it.

On the other hand, I'm not a mod, so take that as you will.

Deleted scenes are not in the official work; hence they do not get troped on the main page.

They can probably be added in the Trivia page under What Could Have Been though.

That's what I meant though, what about tropes that were within the "what could have been" scene? The series in question already has the deleted scenes listed in the what could have been trivia, but there were actually quite a few tropes within the scenes themselves and I was just wondering if there were a way to put those tropes somewhere.

Add it to trivia, descript it in What Could Have Been entries, use pothole, but beware of sinkhole.

Theorically, we study tropes to learn/explore the way of storytelling, so if the story never got told, then it's at best What Could Have Been.

I guess the reason I'm hung up on this is because the story segments in question were actually written out in full by the author, scrapped for certain reasons, and then later shared completely with the audience as alternative paths/extra story, which is a quite a bit more detailed and developed than simply an explanation or discussion on "what could have been", hence why there is a decent number of tropes I can associate from those scenes alone. I couldn't systematically list these tropes in the what could have been entry?

If I understand you correctly, the Closest Thing We Got but you want to avoid is

  • What Could Have Been
    • Deleted Scene A
      • Trope 1
      • Trope 2
      • Trope 3
    • Deleted Scene B
      • Trope 1
      • Trope 2
      • Trope 3
etc.

Right?
