I found this reference in a document but having trouble confirming much about it

Around the same time “Shakariki Petto” appeared from Panasonic which was a virtual pet that a player fed by taking pictures of colours that represent food, for instance, the colour red represented apples.

I can't find anything when googling "Shakariki Petto" so I don't think it's that, even if the mechanic is similar to the game (there were no specific foods mentioned in-game, and this "take picture of color" mechanic was also used for playing and other things, not just feeding)

Found the games! The platformer is Bubble Boost and the virtual pet is Photopet - they were made for Siemens phones, which I forgot was the phone I had but I remember now! I forgot about the character having a duck bill but the screenshots I found instantly looked familiar, especially Photopet!
