Alice is a Cat Girl, and likely the only one of her kind in existence. Bob is a random everyman who has vowed to keep her feline biology secret for fear of "government interference." One Broken Masquerade later, and Alice is hauled off to some unspecified government facility anyhow. Now, what the government could possibly want with what is essentially a sapient housecat, I can't possibly fathom, though it might involve some "pointy bits" at some stage.

One thing leads to another, and Bob almost manages to rescue Alice, only for them to be captured and separated again, with Bob being thrust back into his civilian life at gun-point, while Alice is sent off to "an unspecified location that nobody would ever find." Bob not having anything else to do, he goes back home, only to find Alice sleeping on the couch like nothing ever happened, along with a note that reads Not all "unspecified locations" are top-secret off-the-grind government bunkers, signed by the governor, essentially stating that they used the "unspecified location" schtick as a cover to allow Alice and Bob to return to their normal lives.

...With one key difference: Instead of having to hide Alice's biology, it's revealed that Bob's neighbors are already aware of Alice's secret, and most actually prefer Alice openly display her real self.
