I don't know what the hard limit is, but the warning will appear at about 400k to 500k.
There isn't a hard limit, just a point at which trying to save the page will crash a server.

Character Specific Page cleanup
The warning appears at around 250-300k symbols actually. Happened to one of the mcu character pages just a week ago, we had to split it. Definitely not 400k.
I think it also depends on the number of links, the more links vs plain text, the earlier it appears, but I'm not 100% sure.

Just how big is the character limit for a page? I've seen plenty with upwards of 200k, but apparently it can go even higher than that.
