openYA book series; girl turns into wolf Literature
One of the other queries today reminded me of a book I picked up from the library, probably around 2005~2007. I only read MAYBE the first chapter or two, but my mom read the whole thing and loved it, and I could never remember the title after we returned the book to find the rest of the series for her.
The couple details I remember: the protagonist was definitely a woman, who I believe was living with her extended family, who were abusive alcoholics. She was on the verge of... something— being married off; being ported off to somewhere else to take a terrible job, something like that— and was planning her escape. She also could willingly turn into a wolf, and I don't know if she had a secret job as a spy/thief or something like that, but there were several descriptions of her stealthing around the city and demonstrating those kinds of skills. That's really as much as I can remember from the plot, but another scene I remember is a very vivid description of a man being drawn-and-quartered in the town square, while the MC thought about how repugnant public executions were. (I remember being surprised it was in the YA section of the library, since it was definitely on the mature side of the YA scale!)
I remember the cover as being blue~purple, with a shiny/holographic picture of a wolf's head floating over the MC. It either had a fairly photorealistic artstyle, or the cover used an actual model and actual picture of a real wolf. I've googled for similar covers, but haven't had any luck finding a summary that fits what I remember. Thanks to anyone who tries to help!

openSimilar to Worker and Parasite
For anyone who has seen the Simpsons scene "Worker and Parasite" (it is on Youtube) do you know any storybooks or animations in the same style? I'm sure I've seen some but can't think what. The comment section put me onto Dusan Vukotic Surogat and I can also think of the Telltale Heart and The Three Robbers which are slightly similar as well.

Edited by RavophideopenLive action something (Film? TV show?) with song about "In poor condition"?
So my mum was watching something and there was this group of people (I think there were kids and maybe some old people along with a few young or middle-aged adults, one was a woman in a wheelchair) and they were doing a Musical Number about "in poor condition" and almost every line was basically "in poor condition, we do/are X" and they were clapping their hands and the wheelchair lady was kicking her legs up while the others were dancing. And the narrator (who was a lady) said something along the lines of "At first, he was appalled at the condition of the place, but eventually....*can't remember*" The crazy thing was that despite them singing about being in poor condition, they were in clean, fairly normal-looking outfits and if I remember rightly they looked healthy and their house looked OK. And I think at one point they were clapping along to this instrumental verse that went something like "do do do do *clap, clap*. Do do do do *clap clap*. Do do do do do, do do do do, do do do do *clap, clap*" but it's possible that I'm just confusing that with something else as I know of several songs with similar tunes.
openCartoon with person about to die from laughing?
A man was on a hospital bed and someone said he was about to die from laughing so his friends went into the spaceship to save him. I remember the line, "It's no laughing matter. Well, it sort of is, but..."
openAnti-racism video
Looking for a You Tube vid that's something like "some things you should never say to an Asian person" and I remember this line
- Racist: "You guys are so Asian! Here, let me be Asian, too!"
openweird 90s australian (i think?) kids tv shows
I can remember 2 kids tv series that i watched when i was probably around 7 or 8, so 2005 ish? But i think they were older, both Australian imports to the UK (i might have watched them on really early morning cbbc, when it was restricted to like 3 or 4 hours on a saturday?)
1. this boy who has an internet pen pal who i think he imagines as this really attractive woman but irl she's a really average girl? I can't remember anything else about this one.
2. another australian tv series about this like magical travelling circus? there's an episode where everyone bar one of their group get hypnotised or something and they all start eating gross stuff (worms and urine are the ones i remember). there's also a baby that's not actually a baby but somebody's soul implanted into its body?? I'm fairly sure the main character was this blonde girl who had a definite sort of xena rip off vibe.
Any help would be much appreciated xx

openA movie where the remaining time in your life is used as currency? Film
Ok so a few years back (I can't remember the exact year but it was probably sometime after 2005) I saw a trailer on TV for a movie where the currency is the amount of time you have left in your life. In the trailer there was a guy (who sorta looked like Justin Timberlake,) going up to a coffee stand to buy some coffee and to pay for it he held his wrist out and on his wrist was some sort of watch with some numbers on it and he used it to pay for the coffee, and then the number went down. I also remember the tagline having something to do with time, so thats why I assume the number on his watch was the time left in his life. Tbh I could have dreamed this, but I am curious if this is a thing or not.
openOld cartoon Western Animation
For years and years I have tried to find out what this cartoon was... It was an old cartoon, people were small and lived in a garden, there was a wall around the garden and a cat that lived on the wall. It was kinda trippy, I want to say it was 1960s. It may have been British, because I was living in Canada and a lot of the tv shows were British.
openWhat show is this scene from? Film
I can partially picture a scene but can't remember which show it's from and it's driving me nuts! The protagonist is a woman, old enough to be established in her career I believe, but maybe has been laid off recently or for some reason that's "not her fault" not working. She is a writer and considers herself to be a serious writer. She's been courted by a blog (I think, or a vlog) startup that is run by someone who I think she knows from a past life, who is much younger and she finally gives up and is desperate and calls them back and schedules an interview. When she gets there she expects to just be handed the job and the owner sits down with her and asks whether she's prepared samples and tells her to "sell me on you working here." The protagonist is taken aback because she sort of felt like she was deigning to interview in the first place. Ultimately she has nothing prepared and the owner walks her to the elevators and I think she gets a call on the way out the door saying they went in a different direction.

openFrench Educational Shorts Series about Art Western Animation
I remember watching this one in 2008. I can say for sure about the series that: 1) the shorts were 2D-animated 2) it was French 3) each episode was about 1-2 minutes, so they were shown during commercial breaks 4) a work of art was covered during each episode (Amedeo Modigliani and Le Bateau by Henri Matisse were featured) 5) it was either sponsored or supported by some cultural organisation (French Ministry of Culture or European Cultural Commission or such) 6) there were three anthropomorphic characters (not animals), one of whom was tall, and they spoke about the work's history 7) a title of the painting and the name of the author were shown on the black screen at the end of each episode
That's about it. I'm hopeless.
Edited by NilsKorgieopenMovie Film
Looking for a movie where a black girl falls in love with a white man. She loves art, I think she paints and he gave her a painting. They weren't able to have any kids. She looks like Ruth Negga in the movie "Loving" but it's not her, she also has black hair, short and with faux finger waves I think... I think the movie is set in the 1940/1950. Please, I'm going crazy!

openAn old cartoon with a guy, who had a alive car, it was breaking down and he needed to get a new car. Western Animation
It's a cartoon I am unable to find anywhere.
I remember it from a childhood that some guy was driving with a car and the car was old and was breaking down. The car was alive too and had feelings (Like he had a mouth and eyes). The guy threw it into the garbage area and bought himself a new car. I remember the new car being all badass ang angry. And at the end the car exploded somehow and the old car came back to the guy and he continued with the old car.
I so so wanna see that cartoon again.
Edited by FlackoWeaselopenThe Queen's Guard? Film
So, a long time ago I borrowed a film from my local library and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I cannot find it now.
It was about a princess traveling to some other kingdom in order to be married, and her dowry was being taken with her. The queen felt this was unsafe, so she dispatched a few members of the King's Guard to protect them, feeling no bandit would risk attacking a caravan so heavily protected.
I clearly remember a narrating voice saying "There was nothing wrong with the Queen's plan. It just didn't work" or something to that effect.
What followed was essentially a siege situation as the princess and the guards, along with the dowry, were stranded in an isolated position and surrounding by the bandits, with a former King's Guard helping them in order to achieve his nefarious goals (I can't remember exactly what they were.
Highlights from the film include the traitor former-Guard killing someone from the bandits in a duel, the use of a maneuver called the Tiger Claw(three of the Guards flee from the siege to seem like they're running for help, then run back through the enemy lines killing as many as they can), and lots of arguing back and forth over whether they should run or fight.
As far as I remember, the film was called The Queen's Guard, but I cannot find any trace of such a film by that name. There is a film called "The Queen's Guards" which is about something entirely different.
I remember reading this one fanfic/walkthrough for Myst many years ago. It was written as a fanfic from the point of view of the Stranger as (s)he experienced the events of the game, with additional scenes added. There were also a few short stories set after the events of the fic, followed by a full-blown sequel recapping the events of Riven.
The only specific scene from it I remember is a flashback scene (in a dream of the Stranger's) showing how Sirrus and Achenar got trapped.
I remember reading it on a site that had a light brown background.
