Went to the Troper Repair Shop forum stickied thread, got more confused than ever. It's about as clear as mud. Two questions:

1) What are crowners for? Are they to be limited to trope pages, or can they be used for other things- like On-Topic discussions in the forum?

2) How do you make them? When I click the "Yes" button on the template page, nothing happens.

1. Crowners are for voting on issues related to wiki articles. Originally, they were created to allow people to vote for their favorite Crowning Moment of Awesome for any given work (hence the name). Now, they're primarily a tool of consensus gathering on Trope Repair Shop and Image Picking topics.

2) Manually creating a crowner requires that you build the URL for your desired topic, using an existing crowner as an example. When you open that URL, the wiki software notes that it doesn't exist and asks if you want to create it. It's very similar to a new page launch in that respect. However, moderators have a neat little control panel that allows crowners to be made and linked to a thread without mucking around with URLs, so by far the simplest way is to ask a mod.

Thanks. So— if some tropers wanted to vote in order to settle an issue being discussed in a thread— would we ask to use a crowner, or try something else?

Yu certainly could use a crowner if you wanted to.
