ah, I guess that makes sense, but about half of them can trade hits with it outside of the base panel.
I knew that it fought them, but I figured that they'd be able to damage it inside the base panel when they're ganging up on it. Because even in one on ones, they occasionally do about 150 damage.
And there were times that I'd weakened it to under 100hp/10sp. So at this point, I'm willing to believe there's a problem with the capture mechanism.

The sad, REAL American dichotomyI found that weakening monsters didn't do jack. I just grinded up and stole it with brute force.
Everything is better as a Dunkleosteus.Don't forget that when you try to capture monsters, they have a built in "SP Bomb".
If the monster has any SP, it's dealt in damage to you base panel characters before the "capture fight" even starts.
^There's that. With a lot of monsters, I arranged it so they'd use up their SP before I lobbed them into the base panel.
I've tried, but I can't get it down to exactly zero.
The sad, REAL American dichotomy@Above: Well, that may explain why I couldn't catch a Lv 80/85 angel despite having my Lv 101 Laharl in the base panel...
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."Wait, wait, Medi.
Angels are humanoid units. They're not monsters.
You cannot capture humanoids.
A level 1 non-monster will wipe out your base panel, no matter who is in there.
so the end of the True Defender of Earth chapter is disproportionately tough.
Regarding my attempts to catch a galactic demon:
To sum up my team: I've got Laharl, Etna and Flonne at about level 47, one of all of the other story characters (up to where I'm at in the story (see above)) and starter classes at level 42-40, scout at 38, star mage and skull at 38, 3 prinnies at 36, and one of each element mage and skull at about 35 each. I put all but the weakest mage in the base panel before I throw an enemy in. I still can't catch what I want. How much stronger do I need to be?

The sad, REAL American dichotomy^ things scale insanely from there on up I usually have to go level up via the invincibility panels in that one fire level (cant remember the exact name) block off all bridges and pick up some of them and throw them into each other to double their level then kill them.
I think you have to be low 70s or so to not get 1 shot by the final boss.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!^^^Damn. So much for recruiting them without unlocking GPI-knows-what first.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."sorry, I should have mentioned again: what do I need to do to catch a galactic demon? I think I rephrased it better now.
The sad, REAL American dichotomyOh sorry I misread your post
The Cyclops in 8-1 are Lv. 27.
This is pretty much the reason why when you throw a high levelled monster into the base it will cut through all your party members, even after the SP explosion. If a bunch of slightly lower leveled characters took on the monster at once and he had a lot of HP remaining, before it was thrown into the base, you'd likely win on the combined strength of all your characters. But since you have the possibility of losing half the time or more, a 1 on 1 fight against successive randomly chosen characters, would be the most likely answer.
So before you throw a monster into the base to capture it, do 2 things.
1) Try and get it to waste as much SP as you can. If the Monster's level is so high that it has a virtual inexhaustable amount of SP, then ignore this. Just hope and pray your characters will survive the SP explosion when its thrown into the base
2) Lower it's HP as much as you can. The closer you get it to 0 before throwing it into the base, the better chance one of those random characters will kill it.
A good way to get around the SP explosion, is to create a LOT of brand new Lv 1 characters at the Dark Congress, and let them soak up all the SP damage, this will ensure in most cases that your strongest characters will be fighting the monster at their full capacity. It isn't guaranteed, but it will increase the chances of your stronger characters survivng the SP explosion. You can have a maximum of 104 createable characters in your army, so there's LOTS of room to create these fodder characters.

Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!I'm trying to do all that, except the last point. I kind of have a problem with doing that. Especially cause they're also just clutter. There's no way to combine characters, is there?
The sad, REAL American dichotomyDisgaea 4 trailer. I CAN"T WAIT!

Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2The Masked Hero returns! Day one purchase.
I'm tempted to buy the Japanese version, actually. I should be able to become fluent in Japanese before February, right? How hard can it be?
The main characters are a vampire, a warewolf, and human girl( Valvados, Fenrihi, and Fuka). I think NIS is trolling.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Ooh. I'll probably pick that up as well.
^^ Not until one of them sparkles.
Which, remembering Lord Bishie Sparkle Big Star, is probably very likely.
...Color me impressed. I may have to get a PS 3 in the near future.
Just saw the trailer. Looks like Axel is gonna be one of the main characters.

GOH! JII! RAH!Damn, this could get me to by a Playstation 3... Which incidentally, would be my first Sony console.
"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."If only Makai Kingdom didn't have a nice, fully contained story, I'd like a sequel
The sad, REAL American dichotomyDammit.
This is making me want to play through the Disgaea games.
Again.
I've lot sooooo many hours to this addictive creature.
~tracks down his DS and Disgaea DS~
Dammit.
Right. As far as I know, what happens is that when you throw a monster into your base panel it "fights" the things that are inside, so if the characters you have in reserve can't hit it and get past its defense, weakening it won't make any difference.
