x2 To each their own. Characters playing off of one joke gets extremely old to me after a while, especially when the joke isn't funny. (Kellam in a nutshell.)

Not that there aren't good, interesting characters post 3DS, but...ngl, they can go overboard with the quirky character jokes in lieu of real traits/development.

A lot of the older characters were more reigned back and felt more realistic, even slightly, though there were standout joke characters from the earlier games too. The tone was just a lot more down-to-earth which I found more believable. In spots Awakening reads more like a parody of fantasy than an actual fantasy.

Both Fates and Awakening had a bit of Mood Whiplash for me with the story vs. the hijinks in supports.

I'm a Lucina detractor and frankly I find her underplayed, which is the main problem I have with her. Even in Awakening, she's just kind of there after giving her warning from the future.

YouTube and Reddit comments mostly which, yes I know. They're trash.

The complaints I saw stemmed mostly from the belief that IS is pushing another female character as the new "waifu". Which probably comes from misogyny.

That said if I never have to read the word "waifu" again, it'll be too soon.

Sadly, way too many online complaints about female characters nowadays stink of misogyny nowadays.

And yeah, it's a good idea to not give YouTube comments the time of day, unless you're desperate to know who's a bigoted asshat.

Back on the subject of Three Houses, I'm wondering if today's Direct will talk about amiibo functions.

We have a release date for Three Houses: July 26.

Dammit. I was hoping it wouldn't be delayed. Oh well, if that helps them polish, then I'll live.

So from what I saw it's...different. There's an Avatar, which was a given, but taking place in a school and the maps being school missions? Seems...a little odd. I guess I really got behind the idea of grand, sweeping war stories.

Though holding out for something to happen and make the scale grander, which is probably what they're aiming for.

Not bad. Not bad at all.

I noticed this moment where Byleth is attacked by a bandit, but then there is this inverted colors effect as well as what appears to be time winding back and the bandit is suddenly sent flying.

...Does this mean Byleth gets a sort of Shulk-style Combat Clairvoyance? ...Or straight up going back in time?

It likely will escalate since the early missions will likely be to "keep the peace". All out war is inevitable at some point as weve been shown in the previous one.

School setting is odd. Kinda wish they showed more about the game's actual mechanics, and stuff, but looking forward nonetheless.

I too hope the scale gets grander.

If the thicc priestess with green hair and dem hips is playable I know who I'm romancing.

I suspect she's a villain though.

Well it is kinda interesting that the avatar seems to be significantly older than the rest of the characters and is going to be acting as a teacher (good Gameplay and Story Integration with the player giving everyone commands and stuff), but their ability to see that dragon girl that no one else can is weird.

...Wait. This is gonna start house wars in the fandom, isn't it.

Not a fan of the school setting, and I will be deeply upset if you can marry your students. This really just does not feel like a Fire Emblem game.

On the plus side I think the way they’re doing classes now is interesting. Seems to be a lot of replayability in that regard.

I'm curious about the person dressed up as a plague doctor. Wonder if that's standard garb for certain types of mages, or if it's a unique person wearing that getup for reasons.
