W Hile this has nothing to do with the OCC, I have to ask; Xion, is there any reason why you take so long to reply to my PM's?

For one thing, I have school, and a self-imposed study hall at the library on Monday-Thursday, So on those days, I don't get home and on the computer until 6-7 or so.

Secondly, I feel no obligation to reply. Every conversation has to end at some point.

Well, Xion, my first advide would be to enter characters over games for now. This is, after all, a character compendium, so people are more inclined to vote for...well...characters. I'd only recommend a game when at least three characters in it have been polled.

For actual submissions, I feel your character ones could be more descriptive(For example, saying one is like an Expy of Jolee doesn't do any good to those who haven't played KOTOR even if they look it up). You also might wanna put up the more Touhou-ish characters first, like the oni. They also need to be much more focused.

If you want more, maybe I'll PM you later. What do you feel you have issues with?

• Criminal in a Lawless Land
• Theme: Toys from the Sky ~ Angelic Predator
• Spellcard theme: Mobster cliches

It turns out that even heaven has a criminal underbelly. But since it’s a land where everyone’s nigh-immortal and has all of their needs met, most of the “legbreakers” and “wiseguys” are all show. Adela Ranpoteza was the Right-Hand Cat of the Empyrean Mafia’s infamous leader, and stepped up to take his place when he was finally beaten up by shinigami and dragged away. She was the most effective and ruthless crime boss the heavens had ever seen; too bad her underlings were completely toothless. Just when she was about to give up in disgust, a strange note appeared on her desk.

Enclosed was a map to the land of Gensokyo, where even a puny youkai could play with the mightiest gods and monsters of a bygone age! If Adela had come before the advent of the spellcard rules, she’d be just another small-fry. But these days, as long as she steps carefully, a cruel, cunning, charismatic cat can go a long way.

Problem: how do you found a criminal empire in a land without law? Flouting the spellcard rules would be suicide. Plunder and predation are a normal part of life for the youkai of Gensokyo, and even the most hard-bitten gangster would hardly stand out at all. The only solution was to find an authority figure and set herself in opposition to them.

Even a go-getter like Adela isn’t ambitious enough to pick a fight with Yukari. Her shikigami, Ran, seems too dispassionate and practical to make a fun nemesis, but her shikigami shows promise. Adela sets out to cause trouble in Mayohiga, the village where humans are not, with no idea of what she’s getting herself into. It takes no time at all for her to conscript the local cats for her syndicate and earn Chen’s ire.

Yukari knows all about this little war for Mayohiga, but she’s content to watch. While Ran is nowhere near the ridiculous levels of “CHEEEEEEN!” we see on danbooru, Chen can still appreciate this chance to sort things out for herself. Our little nekomata is rough, tough, quick and spirited - more than a match for this ridiculous wannabe. Right?

• Appearance – Adela is tall and slim, with cat’s ears poking out of her tumbling blonde hair and a big, fluffy white tail. If the ears aren’t enough for hair decs, we could throw a pillbox hat with a veil on there, too. She wears a blue basque dress with gold stitching and a white feather boa. Her eyes are normally blue, but fade to yellow and develop slitted pupils when her Tommy gun comes out of the cello case she’s always carrying. (No one is fooled.)

• Powers – The fluffy mobster makes up for her lack of power with a few magical devices from home. The spiritual Tommy gun is the most obvious; it fires a stinging spray of low-power bullets that are perfect for danmaku. She also has a pair of opera glasses that can show her a youkai’s hidden power, a cigarette case that never runs empty and the veil on her hat can make her invisible for short stints. She would die of embarrassment if it ever came to light that these are all actually toys in heaven, and she’s bluffing when she threatens to set her gun to “kill.”

• Allies - Really, the most dangerous thing about Adela is the fact that her danmaku skills let her to get deadlier youkai under her thumb, such as the terrifyingly powerful but terminally inept Meili Mangojari. I’ll be entering a few of them in later polls.

• Personality – All we see of her at first is that she's confident, charming and ruthless. Chen sees right through her and thinks she’s unbearably smarmy. For all her manipulation and power-grubbing, though Adela isn’t completely heartless; after all, she’ll need to follow the series tradition and become Chen’s second-in-command among the cats after a (spiked) tea party.

I imagine Adela as someone who never actually fights the player character (whoever they happen to be at the time) with a spellcard of their own, but rather, harassing them with a non-spell before calling in a subordinate to do the attacking for them. At least until a later stage (EX stage?), where she shows you exactly why she's the mob boss.

Alternatively, you could just have a handful of minions as sub-bosses to face before Adela, but that's not as interesting (in my opinion).

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

Question, if Adela, Chen, and Orin were to team up, should Nazrin be very very afraid?  ^*

On a more serious note, how exactly would Adela view Orin? We know her little rivalry with Chen, but would she respect Orin, view Orin as another rival, or just not even acknowledge Orin's existence? Just curious about what she'd think of the other cat girl of Gensokyo, especially when that other cat girl is from the almost opposite of heaven.

So, if they team up, are they the Terror from Heaven and Hell? Are they ready to rock?

Either way, I might have more to say tomolo. For now, I'll just say that my vote for Adela has not dissapointed me!

That's actually a really cool idea. She could be slippery and annoying in the non-spellcard attacks and then call on other characters to do spells for her, with the spellcard names suggesting their relationship or what she did to strongarm them into helping.

(She'd probably be her own sub-boss before this, and fire off a spellcard of her own that's roughly equal to one of Chen's Stage 2 cards from PCB.)

So I'm thinking either Final-Exam Boss or bringing in some of the weaker characters from other games as cameos? This way, the fight against her could have lots of different gimmicks, and the difficulty scale could be illustrated by who she calls in.

She probably doesn't know that Orin exists at the moment, but she'll be looking for a new rival once she accepts Chen as her boss. Orin would have to appear in one of the endings and be all, "Man, what?" when Adela breathlessly challenges her.

Well, I made this thread to make game ideas, so I'm going to make game ideas! Here's what I got so far:

Xionic Touhou Project 02: Midnight Chronicles

A game about the above Adela's invasion of Mayohiga. It will feature a stage structure like Fairy Wars, in that there will be multiple paths with completley different bosses. Unlike FW, each path will have a different playable character. They will be 4 stages long, and Adela will be the final boss of all of them.

• Chen, unofficial leader of Mayohiga, has obvious stakes against Adela. She is the main PC.
• Cirno will be playable, but I don't know what her motive would be. I'm making this up as I type, you know.
• Amber lost her territory to another Daggerwrist, and has travelled to Gensokyo proper in search of new territory. Unfortunatley, due to her arrival in Mayohiga coinciding with Adela's, everyone thinks she's in leauge with the mobster. Basically, it's every stage 1 boss in the history of Touhou, from the boss's point of view.
• No Idea who the fourth on should be, but it should be a stage 1 or 2 boss. Wriggle maybe?
• Kogasa is an unlockable character, and we will all be suprised when she is unlocked.

Midnight Chronicles, eh? I'm definitely down with Kogasa being a super secret character, and I like your idea of multiple paths with different characters. So let's try this:

What I picture is a game using Chen and Adela as playable characters with opposed storylines.

Chen's story would be about this obnoxious upstart sweeping into Mayohiga and subjugating the cats. She'd have two shot-types that would result in different dialogue - Sheriff of Mayohiga is the canon shot-type and makes the story emphasize her desire to become a worthy protector for her fellow felines and has her busting heads on her own, while Ran-sama's Shikigami emphasizes her territoriality and has her calling upon Ran's power to drive Adela out of her town. Her EX-Boss would probably be the Mystery Cat.

Adela's story would be about coming to Gensokyo, deciding to stake her claim on Mayohiga and whoa holy crap what's happening to the laws of physics!? It turns out the Gap Youkai's bizarre manor is hidden in Mayohiga, and the stage six fight is against Chen in a nightmarish Escher-space that makes bullets act weirdly. The early levels could be the same as Chen's route, though; they would be about Adela beating up the lower bosses and recruiting them in the first place.

The EX-Boss here would be Ran, who's interested in getting the measure of her shikigami's new playmate; if you win, you manage to make her mad and Yukari steps in to smooth things over before she gets serious. Building on Kyler's idea, Adela's two shot-types would be based on helpers, Subterranean Animism-style.

Though, yeah, Nazrin has to be in now.

Easily explained, someone on the Myouren crew lost something or had it stolen so Nazrin is sent out to find it, just like in UFO.

Eventually she'll be led to Adela who may or may not have what she is looking for.
