Nurarihyon No Mago

(Thought this already existed, but could not find it. Might as well start again with the anime coming out.)

Getting a head start on a couple of this season's shows that I have been reading the manga versions of. I expect that this one and High School Of The Dead will have enough discussion to warrant threads.

So, who has been reading Nurarihyon No Mago? And what are your thoughts on it?

Me, I think the page/show description is adequate and accurate about when its Beard Grows. It will be interesting to see how long the anime takes to get to that point.

I mostly read it for the art. While Night Rikuou looks awesome in battle, he's only recently downgraded from curb stomp any given youkai status. I am very much looking forward to watching his Magnificent Bastard-ness in full motion and color, highlighted by the delicious chocolatey tones of Jun Fukuyama.

First episode. As someone who has read the manga I don't want to color any one's opinions so I will leave it at that.

That was pretty good. No real complaints thus far. Definitely earned a look at the next few episodes.

Not availiable in my region, Raaaaargh.

Yeah, it didn't work for me either. I had to stick to my standard ways of finding these things.

Alternative link, I liked it a lot, can't wait for more.

This and Occult Academy are probably my top picks for this season.

I'll be watching the early episodes, but I'm pretty much just waiting for the beard growing moment ala the manga. Wonder how many episodes there will be. The manga just got up to ch 112.

First impressions of first episode, in order of appearance:

1. *drools* preeeetyyyy.....

2. Good thing Lelouch has Diethard working for him again.

3. The composer seems to have some Hedwig's Theme on the brain

4. Sakura tree good...want more sakura...

Maybe it's just because it is the first and second episode until now but Kana is kinda not as strong-willed as she is in the manga. She is easily scared, though, so maybe it is really just because the first two episodes didn't give her much of a chance to be anything but her easily scared self.

I wonder if the anime will give Tsurara/Yuki Onna as much focus as the manga does. Would be nice if, I like her.

The seiyuu choice truly is lovely~

Episode 4 is out: That ending was pretty freaking awesome, i loved the way they sylized the smoke and shadow.

^Agreed, and the creative scene transitions.

Pretty nice. Supernaturals-as-mafia has been done before, but not with these weird-ass guys :p

Manga chapter 127 is out. Won't say anything else about it, what with people being more familiar with the anime than the manga.

We are up to episode 16 with new OP and ED. What are people's thoughts about the show thus far?

OP: not the sort of OP you would expect, but fits well.

ED: Even cuter than the first one.

Too many yokai deaths, too little human deaths.

Also, getting a little tired of "normal people" folk not realizing their friend is the leader of an entire clan of yokai despite living in his house and coming into close contact with them for so long.

Other than that, it's entertaining.

I like the first ED better, it's catchier and doesn't have Conspicuous CG.

This Big Bad wants territory/power not necessarily destruction. There is some human killing, but it is almost entirely off-screen. If you want more human deaths, the next Big Bad is who you are interested in. It will take a while for the anime to get there though.

The next big bad took me completely by surprise at just how... gruesome it was.

I mean Sucking out peoples insides through their mouth? That's fucking creepy!

How many episodes is this anime? Will it even get as far as revealing the next big bad?

I expect it'll go 26 episodes and end on a Sequel Hook, actually.
