Yes. The bastards.

Good thing my Therian Fencer is super fast because she let me run from all of the battles afterwards.

I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.

Kill them first in any encounter formation, they use the thread burning move only when they're alone.

I reached floor 23 not too long ago. The gimmick on it is pretty fun.

whelp. finally made it to stratum 5 in EO 2 U, trying to push through to the end

just a bit concerned by the sheer amount of time it takes to kill bosses.

started looking into grimoire's a bit more thoroughly, only just discovered that skills can stack up to 20; before i just assumed they gained nothing after 10. also discovered that elem damage up and phys damage up do not stack together...

luckily i didnt put too many points into both skills, though i regret the levels ive wasted.

Untold 2's bosses are hilarious HP sponges compared to other games. Hope you're ready to minmax your Fafnir to absurd degrees to overcome that.

ironically i heard on classic mode you can expect to defeat bosses in just a few turns.

alas, how i wish that were the case for story mode.

oh well. working on getting elem attack up to 20, but rng is not being kind to me atm

Compression 10 Grimoire on the Fafnir can be used to trade in Akashic Nova's AOE property for even more damage :V

19,660hp for the 4th stratum boss

72,000hp for the 5th stratum mid-boss

what the actual fuck is with that hp bloat.

[up]I think it might be one of those bosses where you can do some puzzle-solving to reduce its HP before actually engaging it in combat.

bleh.

even hitting it with as many bombs as possible, it doesnt go down to half-health, so its got roughly around 40k hp still.

i lost the war of attrition this time around. not really in the mood to try again any time soon so i guess i'll grind and farm.

The story party is a bit low on damage but high on support, so I'd recommend respeccing Chloe into a damage build if she's not already. The story treats her as the main healer, but that's not the best role for her, imo. Ailing Blow is good.

Damage princess can also work with the right set-up.

whelp. juggernaut is dead.

went through a lot of setting up, managed to take it down in about 16 turns thanks to some good luck meaning flavio blinded it on the first attempt, so focus boosted ailment slash could hit multiple times. unfortunately, my luck ran a little thin later on when juggernaut just suddenly use kings rush without warning. i thought it required certain buffs to do that, but evidently not. i lost chloe and ariane in the attack, and i had no nectars, so i just sorta had to...end the fight quickly. luckily faffy boi's focus meter recharged the next turn so i just about managed to finish it before anyone else died.

eugh.

overlord is a pain in the ass

three times now ive nearly beaten him, only to be TPK'd by momentum. first it was a mistake with using the wrong element wall, + his dance. then it was because i couldnt destroy the satellites before his core attacked, and as it turns out each one does insane damage after the core attacks. this time the overlord just suddenly let out a move that cursed 3 characters and fear'd chloe, followed next turn by the core skipping an element so i used the wrong wall, combined with 2 killer satellites chasing the core.

i just want this boss to be over. its awful. im sick of having to redo the first phase and the cutscenes every time i die.

After going through the monstrously devious gravity puzzles in the fifth stratum (plus the weird warp passageways similar to those of EO IV's Misty Ravine), I've finally made it to the boss (Eternal Tryant).

And it's wrecking me.

Any tips to deal with its most powerful attacks, please? My current party consists of Fencer, Dragoon, Shaman, Warlock, Botanist (the latter two in the back). Fencer, Warlock and Botanist are at level 66, Dragoon at level 57 and Shaman at 64 (I suspect I'm overleveled because of the Training Orb, but that's not helping me much against the boss).

Control your DPS when the Miasma is up.

I had a weirdo party with a Barrage Pugilist, Deathbringer, Cannoneer, Poisoner, and Omni, and we did our utmost to try and kill it under binds to keep it from doing much of anything. Also we throttled our DPSS when the Miasma was up to keep from dying by recoil damage.

[up] and [up][up]: What also helped for me was to use Fire Mists to reduce Burning Miasma's damage to a manageable level, though my party didn't have a Dragoon for Mana Guard.

sooo after finishing untold 2 and moving onto 5, i gotta say

i wasnt expecting that level of customization, especially not right outta the game. then hearing about the class specializations i was even more surprised.

of course, that did leave me with a fair level of indecisiveness in regards to teambuilding.

at least though from what ive seen so far the game's fairly forgiving in regards to swapping out classes, what with that equipment you get on i think the 2nd floor? that lets you share exp with reserves.

So I finally managed to take down the Eternal Tyrant just a short while ago. My final party for taking it on was:

  • A Therian Phantom Duellist, level 63
  • A Therian Barrage Brawler, level 66
  • An Earthlian Deathguard, level 64
  • A Brouni Merciful Healer, level 67
  • A Celestrian Divine Punisher, level 52

Mixing buffs and debuffs helped me survive the onslaught of attacks while using Aureole Oracle with Blaze Prayer made Burning Miasma laughably useless.

Overall though, it was pretty fun once I knew what I was doing. Especially seeing that my team's levels were kinda all over the place.

I do lots of stuff. The real question is am I any good at that stuff.

I'm still having trouble with ET, but not as much as the first time. I have a question: Does the level 70 cap still exist in this game? It was present in IV.

[up]Yes. And just like in IV you can raise it to 80, 90, and 99 in the post game.

One last Etrian hurrah for the 3DS.

Etrian Odyssey X (pronounced as "Cross", not Ten), due August 2, in Japan. Described as a "cross(oh I see what they did there)over of the entire series" and will be sporting 19 classes and several features from each past title.
