Been playing Strange Journey Redux again and have just completed the Fourth Sphere of the Womb. I've almost forgotten how funny Forneus is when you beat him; that rapid-fire "Wait wait wait!" in Japanese is a joy to listen to.
Also, Alex's theme song still kicks ass like always.
Now to start exploring Fornax. Looking forward to the raid on Jack's HQ and dealing the hurt.

I too have decided to go back to SJR, trying to see if I can complete the Compendium bar the Big Four and Demeter. Currently at 95%!

So I'm considering this run of SJR officially complete. 97% Compendium, with the only missing demons apart from the Big Four and Demeter being Masakado and the two Geists, who are ridiculously expensive and as mentioned I have really not been in a grindy mood lately.
Besides, I'll need to do a third run to get Demeter anyway and I want to do Neutral+ sometime. But that time is not now.

Ok, so I just got persona 1, 2, and 3 all on psp and shin megami tensei 3 nocturne on ps2 for xmas, the only problem is I need to get ps2 av cables bc I lost them. but I'm really happy to finally play through this franchise!

Indeed, but you have to not only go for the original routes but also do everything in the Womb of Grief.

so, with dante from the devil may cry series now starring in shin megami tensei 3 and bayonetta from the bayonetta series now starring in Dx 2 liberation and possibly smt5, what other guest stars would you like to see? my bet would be on these guys
- 1) doomguy cuz why not?
- 2) pit from kid icarus because he fights demons and atlus has a great relationship with nintendo, also sakurai is a huge smt fan
- 3) kirby because same reasons as pit, just replace "demons" with "horrible eldritch abominations."
- 4) travis touchdown because going with the theme of hack n' slash heroes being guest stars, also just imagine travis decapitating 3 demons in a row and screaming "now starring travis from the no more heroes series" while sliding across the floor.
- 5) death from darksiders going with the theme of other religion-based games being referenced in smt

Overall I'd say that Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS)is the most accessible and newcomer-friendly. If you don't want to be a neophyte and get some old-school cred Nocturne (PS2) is considered the gold standard by many. I personally got into the franchise through the Devil Survivor games (DS updated for 3DS), turn-based strategy RPGs and the first game in particular is basically a reimagining of Shin Megami Tensei I. The Digital Devil Saga duology (PS2) has more traditional, straightforward RPG gameplay that some of the other series and has an interesting story that focuses primarily on Hindu mythos instead of being a pure kitchen sink. There're a lot of options to choose from.

there's also strange journey. Buut don't expect to like it because you like persona. It's 80% dungeon crawling, 15% plot and 5% characters.
