"De Su"?

...Which is the first game, again? I want to try out the series.
Trans rights are human rights. TV Tropes is not a place for bigotry, cruelty, or dickishness, no matter who or their position.Start with Devil Survivor Overclocked.
It's a branching voiced visual novel with tactical battle segments, basically. Not quite like anything else in the franchise.
Wendigo is WendiGONE and Haru is saved! Seems she's not joining yet though; meh.
Yeah, Haru not joining you is a real big missed opportunity. She was the best character.

Wait she's not a party member at all? Huh. Was assuming the named characters I've been running into would all end up joining.

The potential party members in DeSU:
Atsuro
Yuzu
Naoya
Amane
Keisuke
Midori
Maki
Kaido
Gin
Misaki
Black Frost
Midori and Gin are actual good characters tho
As much as I like Gin you could absolutely replace him in the story with Haru and nothing would change
Song of the SirensYou wouldn't have Gin and that's not a price I'm willing to pay.

And afterwards you suddenly get a bunch of characters joining at once.

also its really easy to get keisuke killed
Song of the SirensYep, he died in my one and only run.
I was stuck with Midori forever. I think that's part of why I don't like De Su 1 as much as some. "This is a very serious and dark game. Also there is the most stereotypical Moe character ever in your party yelling about justice and being cute."
Course it is.
Going bug fuck tends to do that.
Huh. It's actually harder to get Megumi Midori killed, and she spends a good portion of the game acting like a moron.

One Strip! One Strip! Please tell me in as non-spoilers a fashion as possible how to save Keisuke, if it’s really that obnoxious.
....I actually don't know off the top of my head.
Only watched it on a LP.
Someone else will have to fill you in.
One Strip! One Strip!Who's Megumi?
You basically have to create in-universe time for your characters to save Keisuke, so you have to get the attention of the person he's in a mortal conflict with.
Shin Megumi Tensei, of course. It’s who the series is named after.

I don't know what you're talking about. My post clearly says Midori. I never made a mistake at all.

One Strip! One Strip! The word's still there, Rob. We can see your sins.
Anyway, I don't exactly know what game to play first or even if there's a "first" game to play. I'm under the impression that this series has many branches rather then a singular continuity. Digital Devil and "Shin Megami Tensei'' 1 and such and such...
So, I'm just going to start with the novel that was the inspiration for the game series: Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei. I'm working my way through the prologue right now, just got to Nakajima's running his revenge fantasy demon at school.
Edit: And Prologue/revenge fantasy done. Dick move to kill the teacher, too. If he promised three souls (though I wonder what else he could have offered because if it was to kill them, wouldn't the demon get the souls anyway), who was he going to send-up along with the two bullies originally?
Also, "Yod, Heh, Vav, Heh". Looking that up, it means YHVH, the holy name of the Hebrew God.

Well, that's annoying. First wipe today, from the Wendigo. I've gotten rusty at DeSu, it seems, either that or 1 is just harder than 2. I forgot how well the enemy AI coordinates using Racial Skills.
