"That's probably because I was unconcious for the past... I don't even know how long," Gordon replied. He was a bit wary. Rey definitely wasn't thinking straight right now...

"So you have," Quingenti said. The head of the dark figure seemed to leaning back, and the nomad laughed. This laugh was composed of thousands of screams of pain, altering in pitch and tone to mimic laughter. "Perhaps your agony would make fine music... perhaps..."

"You should go out and look. I'm feeling better than I have in a while now, at least since we got here. I feel pretty good. Like I'm home, of course not exactly, but I have to say so far, this has to be my favorite place." He grinned again, chuckling. "You'll feel SOOO much better..."

Spriggan disposed the last of the bandages that had some blood on it before he stood on guard in case something or someone would try and attack them.

— Saren leapt to his feet, readying a spacial rend with his equipment... And then froze. All of the Challengers present froze, their minds and eyes still working.

An echoing "tsk tsk tsk" came from everywhere at once, and a gleaming white scythe materialised at the far wall.—

"... Maybe you should lie down," Gordon said, keeping a wary eye on Rey. He was ready to dodge, and restrain the wrestler if he needed to. It was hard to predict what somebody in this kind of mental state was going to do...

Blink's hands covered her eyes, so she couldn't see what was happening after being frozen. But she could hear it... and it terrified her even further.

"Ah, Digamma," Quingenti said. "How long has it been?"

'GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING SON OF A BITCH!!!' Was Kisame's thought processes as his body stood frozen. 'WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON YOU I'LL USE SAMEHADA TO RIP OFF EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF YOUR FLESH ONE SQUARE INCH AT A TIME!!!'

Rey continued to chuckle, seeming to wobble back and forth where he was standing, the laugh growing to a louder, borderline manic tone. He turned from Gordon, heading back to the back of the bus, crawling back into his chair, and snuggling down into it, going into silence.

— The scythe idly bounced and rotated its way through the air, in the general direction of both Xi and Quengenti, two strange whirlwinds of red air flanking it. The faint sound of blades sharpening and guns cocking came from these dervishes. —

Jack, a little exasperated that nobody wished to help him search, gave up on the idea.

"I will return shortly. If I am not back in ten minutes, I would appreciate it if someone came after me. And keep an eye on Rey. He is deeply disturbed in his mind."

He set out for the edge of the clearing, looking about for any sign of whatever it was Rey had seen.

Gordon watched Rey for a few moments, to make sure he was staying there. Then, he proceeded slowly out of the bus in search of the others.

"Late? What do you mean, late?" asked Quingenti. "While it may be irritating to go so long without such a beautiful screamer, the anticipation is part of the fun."

As Jack turned to approach the edge of the clearing, he might get an all-too-fleeting glimpse of a smiling face staring out at him from behind the trunk of one particularly gnarled tree before pulling back and vanishing from sight.

Ravage padded silently after the samurai, blaster drawn as he swept the darkness with his crimson optics. That little minx would not be slipping away again; this time, he would catch her before she could pull her disappearing act once more.

Dr. Langley watched Rey venture into the back of the bus, frowning in obvious concern. Clearly the man was not well; the effect those creatures had had upon his mind must have been stronger than they thought it would be. Still, there was little she could do to help with that matter; she may have been an expert at many things, but armchair psychology was not among them...and besides, she doubted that even the best shrinks could possibly have known how to deal with a patient whose mind had been muddled by contact with some queer monstrosity from God-knows-where.

Shrugging, she turned to close up the hood of the bus—and froze, posture going rigid and eyes widening before she had even completed her motion.

"You," she said, her words heavy with horror and disbelief. "It can't be...y-you aren't real...!"

"Depends," Bolas intoned amused into Langley's mind. "What do you see? You may be falling prey to the madness yourself, but then again, you're surrounded by things that to you before this may not have been real."

Kimimaro noticed Dr. Langley's distress and jogged over.

"Ma'am?"

"Doctor Langley?" Gordon turned towards the doctor, having noticed her as he exited the bus. "What's wrong, who's there?"

   BUTT OUT, INSECT; THE ADULTS ARE TALKING.   

With those deafening telepathic words, Bolas would find his mind ripped violently out of Langley's head and slammed back into his own skull; any further attempts at discerning precisely what she seen would be met only with a wall of mental static utterly impervious to any attempts at penetration on the Elder Dragon's part, and if he tried to force the issue all he would pick up were the faint, choral harmonies of a piece of classical music which he probably would not recognize.

Dr. Langley, a look of absolute terror etched on her face, did not react at all to Kimimaro or Gordon's questions; she backed away from the hood of the bus, staring straight ahead at something only she could see. "This isn't possible...you don't exist, you're just a figment fo my imagination! A hallucination brought on by too much stress, and all this insanity, and...and...dear god, stay away from me!!!"

"Doctor Langley!" Gordon called, approaching her. "Who's there? What do you see? I don't see anything... you're probably right. Whatever it is isn't really there."

Kimimaro readied his two boneblades, trying to extend his senses and see if he could detect anything. He took a defensive stance next to Dr. Langley.

Jack, frowning, was going to proceed after the face, certain it was important, but hearing the doctor's shout, abandoned the chase and headed back for the bus, alarmed.

"What is going on?"

Oh, Big Ol' Cannon That Fella Thinks Is Gonna Crash Down On Our Heads. My Boys And I Could Do With A Little Action 'Fore We Set Things Straight...

—The iron tang of the air became stiflingly strong, mixed with a smell of open graves. The scytheblade gleamed as it bounced nearer.—

Must have been an illusion...

Still, as Link ran towards Doctor Langely, a slight sense of wistfulness came over him.

Mother...

"Are you okay?" he asked.

"Doctor, it's okay. Nothing's there, nothing's there..."

" It's okay.... nothing's there."

Blink was silently thankful that she couldn't see what was happening. That would truely have made it worse... but there was little else that could really make this worse.

"I see..." said Quingenti. He knew of Digamma's fun. He preferred it when the foes didn't fight back. "Perhaps we could weave a song of agony from all who are here?"

The Doctor notices another spot of a different shade. "What is this..."

He licks it looking almost cat-like. "Ood... I never killed an Ood. Where did Ood blood come from?"

When Spriggan heard Gordon's shouts, he crouched and prepared the fire the K3.

Dr. Langley was now hyperventilating, and she continued to back away from the bus as though whatever she saw would lunge at her the instant she averted her gaze. Clearly this unseen presence was causing the red-headed scientist a great deal of distress, and she winced faintly and brought a hand up to her left eye as though its artificial nerves had been shot through by a sudden phantom pain.

"This...this isn't right..." she said to no one in particular.

Rey got to his feet abruptly, coming to the door of the bus, looking out at everyone, blinking, as though trying to decide what exactly they were up to.
