The title doesn't really fit. For one the majority of the examples are usually male and someone new to the trope will confuse the title as some psychotic woman that lives in the attic. Creature In The Attic sounds like a appropriate title.

When you make a new TRS or Image Pickin' thread, enter the name of the page at the "Article" spot and it will make that little link at the top of the thread and the page. I'm going to check the trope and come back and edit this with my response.

If the trope is gender neutral, adding Madman in the Attic as a redirect is enough for the main issue.

If I remember correctly Madwoman in the Attic is the rename from the original title that referenced the first Mrs. Rochester from Jane Eyre.

^ Yep. The original name was Bertha in the Attic. It was successfully argued that "Madwoman in the Attic" is an established term in lit-crit outside the wiki, and that using the name "Bertha" added no information unless you were familiar with Jane Eyre. A Madman in the Attic redirect will take care of the gender problem.
