Does anyone else find it odd how in KHIII there's no scene of Merlin actually interacting with Axel and Kairi or helping them train?
I dunno, it just comes off as odd. The game keeps saying he's the one handling their training, but the only time Merlin appears in the game it's in a totally different context, and I'm not sure Axel and Kairi even get brought up. It feels like there should have been a scene or two of Merlin actually speaking with his supposed pupils.
That would require them to give more scenes to Axel and Kairi. Something I'm not sure the developers wanted to do.

The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -FighteerAxel and Kairi should have been turned into squirrels to train. Or fish. Or birds.
I just want polymorph shenanigans.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? That would have been fucking amazing. Please tell me there's fan art of that.
Oh my God there'd better be.
merlin had more important things to do than actually oversee kairi and axel's training to make sure it wasnt pointless. like get his ass some tea from little chef's bistro
He is technically British.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? With really nothing to do in the game until DLC comes out, Iβm finding myself farming for materials to make stat boosts. Iβm curious to see if thereβs a max to how high Soraβs stats can go. I also crafted a bunch of items to put onto the allies who are not Donald and Goofy which is something I never bothered doing in the previous games. I always just left them with whatever they had when they joined up.
I notice 2 and 3 have a little problem where the stuff you can find in chests can vastly outclass what you can synthesize, weapons aside. Though 3 is a bit worse at that.
Secret SignatureIn IIFM at least you only get the best equipment from synthesis. Plus you can't get dupes of the chest equipment anyway.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The Cosmic series is still rather busted.
Though to be perfectly honest I kinda appreciate the 40AP rings in all their overkill, AP issues are real.

Secret SignatureFull Bloom+ is way stronger. 3 Str and MP Haste that you can stack.
The higher AP from Cosmic stuff doesn't matter much when AP Boosts can be synthesized. Or you play on Crit and start with 50 AP.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The Cosmic Ring with its 80 AP is seriously overkill, and it grants a decent Strength boost on top of it.

Sure but that was against another magic user, the heartless are different
New theme music also a boxKingdom Hearts's rendition of Under The Sea is super Sora/Ariel shippy. Sora even calls her "Darling" in the song, let alone the, um, dancing the pair does.
Given the context of the song, it feels like a deliberate Ship Sinking. Nomura made this as shippy as possible right before Ariel goes, "Yeah, but actually this sucks and I still like my surface guy." Well played, Nomura.
Also, I choked on my water and then almost died laughing when I realized something about the final song's lyrics. Everyone's singing about how Ariel and Prince Eric have united the land and sea. Eric probably can actually speak for the land as a whole, given the division of worlds and all. As I understand, there isn't a full planet of space in each of these. Every world is a fragment of the World recreated from the Light in children's hearts. Atlantica probably accounts for the sea kingdom, Eric's kingdom on land, and then the glowy light barrier at the edges of the kingdoms that holds back the Darkness.
Anyways. So everyone's singing about how happy the new couple is and how wonderful the new unity between kingdoms is and then Goofy f*cking busts out with this lyric.
- Princesses: How about you introduce us to these lovely friends of yours?
- Ariel: Come take a bow: Donald, Goofy, and Sora!
- Donald: Congratulations, dear Princess, to you!
- Goofy: You found your first love and he found you too!
...did....
...did Goofy....
...did he just insinuate that Ariel and Eric aren't going to last? In the middle of their celebration song, no less! Is Goofy that guy?
I can't wait until Sora and Kairi get married, and Goofy's giving the toast like, "Congrats on your first marriage! Hope you get a good ten years out of it, a-hyuck!"

My Tumblr. Currently liveblogging Haruhi Suzumiya and revisiting Danganronpa V3.turns out goofy's wife didnt die she just left him and he's really really bitter
Probably for the best. Goofy f*cked off for parts unknown for like three years. Somebody needs to be raising Max.
- Sora: I've always wondered. The King is married to the Queen. Donald's either dating or married to Daisy, I've never really been clear about that. But how come you don't have a girlfriend, Goofy?
- Goofy: I'm cynical about romance, a-hyuck!
Goofy may be assuming that it's just a typical teen romance and that it'll blow over in less than a year. He's a way more sensible parent than Triton.
Also, I just realized that Fridge Logic dictates that Goofy may be on to something. In the credits of Kingdom Hearts II, we see that Ariel has become human and joined Eric on land. However, going by her summon in KHIII, Ariel has gone back to being a mermaid barely a year later. Read into that what you will.
Didn't she go back to being mermaid in the sequels, though? Without breaking up with him?
The awful things he says and does are burned into our cultural consciousness like a CRT display left on the same picture too long. -FighteerNope,stayed on land and had a kid named Melody,in one of them anyway
New theme music also a boxShe did turn back int a mermaid in that movie though.
Under totally different circumstances, though. Sequel Ariel decided to totally erase her past and cut off all links to the sea after her marriage, only asking to be temporarily turned back into a mermaid years later to save her daughter.
KHII Ariel apparently asked to be turned back into a mermaid almost immediately after getting to know life in the surface world.
I think Ralph and Meow Wow are justifiable since they're in a video game and with Yen Sid, respectively, but Ariel, Simba, and Stitch make less sense. Ariel is in the belly of a Heartless fish, Simba's in a burning factory, and Stitch is in a VR training mission.

It's been 3000 yearsβ¦I do like how Ariel's summon gives a real conclusion to her wish to see other worlds in the first game.
Is Ariel the only major party member who explicitly knows that Sora is from another world?
