So the Lightis a cruel and petty God who tortures someone devoted to it and replaces all the things that died with its bet with Satan    Darkness   , showing how disposable everyone Aqua cares about is in the eyes of God so long as Aqua continues to be devout?

@Hamburger Time if you count Aqua a "true Nort" then we have 14.

Master Xehanort, Xemnas, Ansem So D, Xigbar, Vanitas, Vexen, Saix, Demyx, Luxord, Marluxia, Larxene, Young Xehanort, Rikunort and Aqua. I count Terranort as MX still using Terra's body but able to morph it however he pleases until a later failure tells me otherwise.

So that's 13/14 Norts. Kinda like how the original Organization had 13/14 members if you count Xion. And we see Aqua is likely getting reverted back to her original form before the final battle so we would still have 13. And I honestly thought Demyx had Ansem the Wise on his shoulder since it explains how Ansem could be seen in that same exact area out of the blue but of course we're missing context.

@Iycropath Larxene does say they have their 13 by Arendelle. And Ansem could have been talking about Sora as they were already making plans for him and if he didn't stay on the path they lay then they would destroy him which had Xigbar respond about them having to find another vessel if that happens.

I mean, if that was the case, I think Aqua would be stricken with some kind of debilitating illness that's so bad that the Heartless lick her wounds. She'd sit against the wall for most of the book conversing with three jackasses until Mickey comes, saves her, and restores her to an even better version of her old life.

It was a pretty major stretch. As far as symbolism goes, there are some superficial parallels in the series as a whole, but nothing that specific.

Some people don't realise that the interpretation is just as important as the intention.

If someone loves KH more due a perceived link with their religion, is that not a good thing? Some of the symbolism is pretty blatant like the Kingdom Key.

I think Christianity is the only real world religion explicitly in the series.

Thanks DDD.

...I could probably blame Christmas Town in KHII but like. Christmas in Japan is even more commercialized and less religiously affiliated than any point in the western world.

Before Notre Dame, I could probably handwave Christmas in KH as being in honor of the χ-blade.

EDIT: I mean. The worship of the Greek Pantheon of Olympus too, I guess.

Not that that's especially modernly practiced.

I guess there's ancestor worship in Land of Dragons too.

Islam isnt mentioned or referenced, to my knowledge, in any of the visits to Agrabah. Maybe in Chi, possibly, but like. Why would anyone remember anything that happens in Agrabah in Chi. Half the time you're just begging for it to end. The games themselves dont reference any religious practice in Agrabah. Just the movie does. Land of Dragons has Mushu mention the ancestors, and they have that shrine in rhe cave.

The visit to Port Royal in KHII removes the reference to the "Heathen Gods" from the movie that cursed the Aztec gold.

[up][up]There’s nothing wrong with someone choosing to interpret it that way, but that guy in the Reddit link seemed pretty adamant that it was the intended meaning and seemed frustrated when other people didn’t see it that way.

Would help if the Reddit edgelords didn't just jump in trashing any notion of Christian symbolism. It's not surprising that they got defensive. The title was phrased as a question so I wouldn't say they were adamant about it - just a bit of wild mass guessing that got out of hand.

I think Xehanort has let the Sora himself ship set sail. I am thinking Ansem may be speaking of Repliku personally since a version of Riku seems like itvwould be an appropriate pet project for Ansem.

That being said, I am thinking whoever they have by Arendelle isn't quite the final number. A lot of emphasis in the trailers is given to the mystery of it and lots of faces are being presented for us as the potential thirteenth.

I reckon Aqua was to be number 13, but Sora saves her before she can be a proper Nort, and so they're scrambling about for a replacement 13th.

@lycropath Seems like a stretch since we don't really have anything to refute Larxene's own words and Arendelle is a mid-stage world so it's reasonable to say they have their 13 finalized at that point and I don't really see the emphasis that you're saying from the trailers. Seems like they had a few potential picks but have it finalized by Arendelle.

If they have more than 13 by Ariendelle, it might not matter to them if they've not narrowed it down to the final draft by then.

Well we have Ansem and Xemnas after Roxas who we know they like as a potential Vessel, we have Aqua in the realm of Darkness as a bossfight, the kidnapping of Even, Repliku in the coat but sans the eyes, whatever is up with Terranort and Vanitas breaking the barrier to get to Ventus.

It seems to me Arendelle will and inform us that number 13 is found but later Ansem will comment that their new number 13 may not be working as intended.

Besides I don't think we will learn about such a crucial thing second hand from Larxene rather then a battle where You Can't Thwart Stage One or something it would seem like a waste to what could be a fairly crucial point in the plot.

It's like when you're writing a movie, and you have a 3 hour script you're trying to fit into an hour and a half runtime. From there the problem is editing.

...Or you're going to do a two-parter or some shit.
