In seriousness, "quote mining" is a pre-existing term. I don't think it's causing any misuse either, though it doesn't have all that many wicks.
The trope is the definition of what the pre-exiting term Quote Mine means. I am not really seeing the problem here. It's a common term. It means exactly what the trope says. What's the issue?

Just looking at the trope you'd assume it had something which you can use for a lot of cool quotes. But its really "putting quotes out of context to Strawman your opponent." The current title is very vague.
How about a simple Quoting Out Of Context or Cut And Paste Confession?
