They probably felt there was no need for them yet. Right now DMC is in cryostasis too, especially as Capcom is working on SF 6.
I suppose that makes sense, but it's still kinda weird to me they're willing to release DMC 2 on the Switch but neither DmC or 4.
I thought it had to do with age, but DMC 4 was released 14 years ago, so I doubt that's it.
14 years ago, huh. Really felt so much longer than that.
I remember some angry-at-mods redditor who said "DMC style players are gonna get tired very soon" even though people have been styling in DMC 4 for so long (DMC 3 has been more fluctuating, but I guess it counts as well).
Funny, I still remember how controversial 4 was. These days, it feels like a beloved title in the series.
Nowadays, at least in style play circles, DMC has reached true stability. DMC 1 is the cool original it's still possible to style in. DMC 2 Definitive Edition lives. DMC 3 is DMC 3. DMC 4 is still the chief of kicking ass in style play potential. DMC 5 has been cracked open and practically forced to work in style play through either mods or sheer skill. And now elitism of any kind is considered VERY offbeat.
What about DmC? After relatively recently beating the game I feel like it's the most underrated of the DMC series. I've also seen some people playing on the OCW channel.
Either way, it's very reassuring to know that all/most of the DMC games now have their own replay values.
Yes, Dm C is just as respected as the others. I urge to see Fides' Violent Heaven tournament entry for any disbeliever.
That's extremely good to know & I'm glad to know the elitism has been fading out. I've seen plenty of communities that never really changed all that much even decades later.
From a casual players' perspective, I like 5 over 4 gameplay-wise mainly due to the weapons and enemies. The movesets are just more enjoyable to use.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.A lot of the vitriol over DmC evaporated when it turned out it was not going to kill-off or replace the mainline games forever. Nowadays, it's more a funny little spin-off.

That's a good point. If 5 never happened people would absolutely loathe Dm C instead of taking it for what it is.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Oh definitely. Without DMC 5, the current state of nirvana I've described above would not have been possible at all.
I agree with that explanation & I'm glad that turned out to be the case.
Happy 15th anniversary to the DMC anime.
I still think the Redgrave & Sparda episodes were good in their own right. Especially since it fleshed out more of Dante's grief & the Sparda/DMCverse lore
In a related news. Director Hideaki Itsuno just officially confirmed... Dragon's Dogma II is currently in development.
While the vid explains how Dragon's Dogma came to be, he made brief mentions to other games he worked on, such as the DMC games.
There's a Dante statue on-display behind him during the interview, and it looks like a life-size model based on the camera angle.
With Great Power, Comes Great MotivationYey. Well, I should get on playing DD 1 first, but still. Lots of people with similar tastes to mine love the hell out of that game, so I'm sure it's worth it. And besides, I absolutely trust Itsuno to come out with a good action game.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.I was going to say I share the mindset, but I doubt we have similar tastes. I still want to play Dragon Dogma, despite how god-awful the anime was. I also trust Itsuno for that matter.
Well, when I see Dragon's Dogma, even assuredly high level gameplay, it's only a little more dynamic than Dark Souls. By comparision, I've seen the Ninja Gaiden devs's Nioh to have very fast and creative gameplay by its strongest players. Not to claim it's as though I've played it. Dragon's Dogma is more on the 'grounded' side by design, yes.
Trans rights are human rights. For the record I haven't played any Nioh either. Just my feeling from watching both games is that Nioh is more like DMC than Dragon's Dogma despite apparently being a soulslike.
The lack of flinching bothers me a smidge. I'm sure the game is a lot more fun than it looks.
I keep forgetting that Hayabusa's ancestor is in Nioh.
Oh, I think that's why I was never able to pull it off. I should look at the tutorial again.
Relatively speaking of DMC 4, is there a reason why 4 or DmC isn't on the Switch yet? Cuz I really like the idea of playing a co-op Bloody Palace for either one of them.
