[up]They aren't quite true demons though. They are manifestations of Vergil's trauma from his Nelo Angelo days.

Random question coming into this thread, but how have people taken the Michael Jackson dance from Dante, given that this game came out right on the heel of Leaving Neverland?

I’ve seen some places and streamers voice that it’s unfortunate timing, but not much more than that. Couldn’t care less, myself.

Nothing's going on, Hell is boring in this verse. No parties, no drinking, only infighting. Come on guys, have some variety.

Hell isn't supposed to be fun though.tongue

Actually the ending makes a lot of sense if you look at it as Vergil's punishment for all his sins. He's stuck in a perpetual fight with his brother whom he can never surpass and he has to hear him say "Jackpot" all the time no matter how many times he insists Dante not say it.

Its not even really "Hell" in a Christian sense of the word, its the Underworld. Or more accurately the more Japanese idea of Makai or a Demon World. [lol]

I haven't seen this theory yet, so here goes.

So, it's revealed that Mundus himself gained all his power and became King of the Underworld by eating the Quliphoth fruit. I now have this weird theory that Mundus used to be a Nobody (the freaky laughing guys). This is mainly because in DMC 1, when Mundus' outer stone shell skin cracks, he's revealed to be full of eyeballs and weird orange tendril things, not dissimilar to how the Nobodies keep sprouting eyeballs and seem to have the same weird orange tendrils in their bodies.

Imagine if Mundus had just been some lowly Nobody and literally lucked its way into getting its hands on the apple, either because it stayed sneaky while every other demon killed themselves or was distracted. I know it's a bit of a stretch, but just a thought.

On that note, I was a little disappointed that 5's story wasn't more conclusive. I was kind of hoping that we'd see Mundus or Sparda return, make Mundus into a better villain even. I was thinking that the real twist this whole time was that Vergil wasgoing after the fruit in order to prepare for Mundus' return. Still a decent story, just that all the twists were kind of obvious to me, so I got few surprises.

I mean it took Mundus a good 2000 years to get out of the last seal on him, he's got a while to go. Of course assuming Dante's is as strong. [lol]

I did like the lore drops here and there though, that Mundus prevented the Qliphoth from growing more fruit to maintain his power is interesting in itself. Does make me wonder where enemies will come from in future installments, but I suppose they don't have to be that powerful to be believable, I mean Sanctus and Arius were both apparently very far below Dante himself.

On the subject of 2, I do wonder how Lucia can be customized to be a unique fighter for Devil May Cry 5. Maybe something to do with Devil Hearts and a customizable Devil Trigger or something.

I was also really hoping we'd get to see Lucia again, but it's only in the prequel novel. If I had to customize her, I'd say maybe she could have a lot of passive abilities activated by certain moves. I guess maybe if her moveset was updates, it could use some of Agni and Rudra's old moves to spice things up. Maybe she could have slow projectiles that can pierce or have more stopping power. But I'm sure the devs could think of something better if they wanted.

Lucia deserves a second chance, not to be dragged down by the bad game she debuted in. Her being the way she is and what weve seen with other artificial demons made by the Order raises question about how science and demon magic/genetics mix.

I do think 5 is overall the best in the series, but the story still isn't quite as epic as I was hoping for. I was expecting this is almost be like the true series finale, where everyone comes back and is playable, including Sparda, but maybe they're saving that for 6 or 7.

Lucia's knives and darts don't really lend to big power with lots of stopping power, although the darts being able to pierce would be a good idea I think. Her grenade/mines have a lot of room to be interesting though.

[up][up] Well 5 was branded as the finale to the Sons of Sparda storyline.

Sons of Sparda ergo Dante & Vergil’s relationship.

So going by that, it was never going to be a full on seiries finale.

I’m sure he’ll be back somehow.

When there’s a will there’s a way as they say.

Plus I also don’t see them throwing out V’s gameplay after only one game. Something so major & hyped up doesn’t feel like a one-off thing.

They'd have to come up with some weird reasons then, considering the whole point of the fight against the familiars was to excise Vergil's nightmares of his Nelo Angelo days. The familiars are gone.

Will miss V himself though.

Of course V has that manga coming out soon they might put a backdoor in there somewhere.

Man I'd hate for V to be gone entirely after one game. His mechanics were unique, but juggling three, sometimes four, practically unique characters is actually really fun.

I'd have given her some air magic attacks to compliment her agile fighting style and bird motif. She's be sort of like Death from Darksiders. They could make the story of her and Dante facing Balrog or how the Qliphoth tree affected Dumary Island.

I do think there's a lot that can be done with future games with all the individuals and organizations tasked with fighting demons.

Really at this point I think Trish & Lady deserve their own spin-off.

At the very least hopefully they get their own DLC campaign.

This is a game I would not mind forking over money for DLC. Shit didn't Resident Evil 7 get a whole crap-load of DLC?

Devil May Cry 5 is following Resident Evil 2's example, by having on piece of free DLC about a month after release. But IRIC they have said that they're open to adding more characters in if people want them. So, call your local congressman and write to your senator, we need a government MANDATE on this. tongue

Yes, I want the girls to be playable too. Lady was one of the most fun characters to use in 4SE by a country mile.
