I'm hoping that there's more in store for Trish and Lady in the DLC; I felt that they were severely underused here. Nico, meanwhile, is an absolute treasure, and she quickly became a favorite. It helps that her theme in the customisation menu is amazing, great music for just chilling out. I legit spent thirty minutes with it just playing in the background while I worked on something else.
V, meanwhile, feels like I'm not playing him properly, if only because mashing the X and Y buttons feels a little silly in a game as focused on timing combos as this one. I still haven't gotten used to the fact that dodging actually recalls your familiars, which made my fight against Nidhogg a little more irritating than it should have been, since I kept accidentally calling Shadow back in the middle of killing one of the tentacles.
Also, I don't know what I was thought I'd get when I activated the live action cutscenes, but what we got sure as heck wasn't what I was expecting, not that I'm complaining.

Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.P-p-p—pl-pl-Playable V-v-v-v-Vergil?
There, I've spoken my mind like Agnus...
With Great Power, Comes Great MotivationFor anyone who cares, the PC port seems reasonably well-optimized. A cookie cutter mid range PC can run the game at above 60+ fps no problems. There seems to be occasional crashes, though, and a bug where the cutscene audio desyncs sometimes if you set the FPS to variable instead of locked.
Ahaha that Cavalier Aneglo fight that was fucking awesome. Its like I think that's when I finally started getting Dante right. I finished the fight with an S, I never get that rank when fighting a boss.
Shit I was dodging, teleporting, slashing, shooting, throwing the fucking works. Sure I can't Royalguard but I've gotten the hang of switching between Trickster & Swordmaster.
Though fucking Hell my arm, my Goddamn arm. Its in pain, shit I think its dying, is it dying?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I have several bruises on my hand from playing this game too.
Yeah, Devil Hunter was pretty pain-free for me, but I'm over halfway on Son of Sparda now, and my right hand is starting to need a good shake between missions.
"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Maybe I'm being too fussy about the plot, but it bothers me that Nero suffers a great case of Strong as They Need to Be, in the whole game, Nero goes from being stomped by Vergil (Pre-separation) to being as powerful as Sin Dante and Sin Vergil.
Keeping in mind that Urizen is described as stronger than Mundus would mean that:
Nero = Sin Dante and Sin Vergil > Urizen (Post-fruit) > Urizen > Mundus.

You kinda described the whole series, then.
At least the increases of Dante, have a certain logic and took several years to achieve them., Nero became very powerful from nothing.
At this point, I would not be surprised if Mundus became more powerful than Urizen, simply by training for 4 months.

Don't think it's that different, in 3 Dante's devil trigger upgraded from getting beaten up a few times. He quickly became top of the chain and remained so for a while, in 2 and 4 (and about 60% of the first game, I suppose) he's not taking the situation all that seriously because of that.

The problem is that Nero went from being more or less at the level of Dante of the first game (Pre-sparda) to being as powerful as Dante at the end of the fifth.
Nero improved in a few weeks, more than Dante improved in 10 years.
Mundus probably will be stronger than Urizen was in this game if he comes back In the future.
And Considering that Sparta probably isn’t dead either (We don’t really know what exactly happened to him) he’ll probably have a devil trigger on a level beyond Sin Devil Trigger that Dante, Vergil, and Nero will have to surpass.
Watch SymphogearThat's ridiculous, if Sparda was more powerful than Sin, why he did not crush Argosax and Mundus like insects, instead of sealing them.?
Just when it seems that Dante already surpassed his father, the writers make sure that Sparda is more powerful retroactively, even if it does not make sense.

One fan theory I head was that Nero powers up on the power of love, and that's how he unlocks his own DT. It makes some logic that the 3/4 human Devil Hunter gets more demon power when he taps into his humanity instead.
Plus there were hints back in 4 that his Demon Arm was some REAL SHIT, so it's not as if this has sprung out of nowhere.

"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Actually, Sparda sealed himself because he felt he was becoming too powerful, though later on he decided to start a new life on Earth. This is adressed in the DMC 3 manual. Though I think it's safe to say with DMC 5 the main boys are now on his level.

Plus, it's certainly confirmed that Sparda is dead. They're just real damn vague about the when and how.

"...in the end the Shadow was only a small and passing thing: there was light and high beauty for ever beyond its reach."Nero gets more power from the desire to protect his loved ones. It was there in 4 and it's definitely showcased at the end of 5.
As for why Sparda sealed his enemies rather than killing them...maybe he still had some biases against killing his own kind. He was willing to fight them on behalf of humanity, but maybe he wasn't quite willing to cross the line of outright killing them.
And technically what Sparda sealed wasn't himself but rather the bulk of his power. Nearly all of his Physical God level demonic power was sealed in his sword which was itself sealed with his amulet which he then split in half. And the sword itself was sealed in a pocket dimension that needed the blood of Sparda's descendants and a descendant of the priestess ally who sacrificed herself to make the seal.
Sparda didn't fuck around when it came to seals, is what I'm saying.

Disgusted, but not surprisedVergil pretty much took Nero by surprise in the garage. Nero wasn't even aware he was in the presence of an enemy until his Devil Bringer started glowing.
Especially if they were people he was once close to. The anime featured two demon brothers who were apprentices of Sparda and Sparda was a right hand man to Mundus IIRC.
Nero was also distracted for one crucial second trying to warn Kyrie to stay away. And that was all the other guy needed. It may have also been easier for him to steal away the Devil Bringer and Yamato because Yamato was originally his weapon.
And yeah, it's likely that Sparda felt some sentiment when it came to his demonic brethren. The very thing that made Sparda powerful — his capacity to care for others — may have been the very thing that held him back from outright slaying his former comrades.

Disgusted, but not surprisedI think one of the novels even suggests that the reason Sparda didn't destroy the Hell Gates on Fortuna was because of his sentiment for his original home. Dante OTOH had no such attachment to the demon world.
One wonders if Sparda's ultimate goal was peace between humans and demons. Maybe he hoped his sons would be a bridge between the races.
Of course, it didn't work out that way.
Disgusted, but not surprisedThere've been steps being taken across the franchise at least. Trish, Lucia, the demon who fell for a human in the anime, Vergil possibly have shown to be accepting of and accepted by humans.
Griffon & Shadow are pretty dope dudes.
Actually I think they are the first non-antagonistic full-demons we have ever met.
