If they go to a dead link, cut 'em, or, if you're feeling generous, try to find a good link. Of course if the example doesn't mention what song it is or what show it's from, that's kind of ...impossible. So cut those and don't look back. Just leave an edit reason of "cleaning out dead links" or something like that.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Good idea, I'll look into it! Would it be okay to put disclaimers around, asking to name the show the song is from?
It wouldn't be a bad idea, so that people who find dead links have the chance to be proactive about it.
Something I noticed: There are both a Western Animation section on the main Ear Worm page, AND a whole separate page for Western Animation earworms. Perhaps someone would like to move all the examples from the W.A. folder on the main page to Western Animation's own Ear Worm page.
—edit—
Never mind. I realize that the main ear worm page is for references to ear worms in fiction. I apologize for my mistake.

I think any entries which do not first specify the source and name before quoting any lyrics should be zapped.
In the rare case where the title of the song is unknown, a description of where it appears could suffice.
You should be able to just use Ctrl-F and search for a work without having to examine the page source.

Accidental mistakes are forgivable, intentional ones are not.^ That wouldn't be a bad idea. Although rather than a mass cut, we probably should follow the links and add the information if it's available.
Later: I've started nibbling through the advertising folder, taking out any that have dead links, no information at all about the company that uses it, like this one:
- Just dial one-nine-hundred-nine-zero-nine-JEFF!
Really? What is that a jingle for? How does it go? There's not enough information there to make it a good example.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.As far as editing goes, just zapping examples which do not conform to a formatting guide and relying on editors who re-add them to conform to it would be a lot easier on us.
Have you seen how much of the Ear Worm.Music examples page is still filed under Unsorted, even months after the sorting started?
Accidental mistakes are forgivable, intentional ones are not.Why are "real-life" Ear Worms allowed on this page? Shouldn't this only be for Ear Worms referenced in a work of fiction? Otherwise it's completely subjective - one man's ear worm is another man's forgettable ditty.
"Did anybody invent this stuff on purpose?" - Phillip Marlowe on tequila, Finger Man by Raymond Chandler.I think a clear "must include full citation" policy is appropriate — every poster should assume every link is likely to go dead in general, not just here.

For example, Western Animation has a lot of gibberish linked to now-dead Youtube links. Is there a way to elaborate on these? I'm sure I've been guilty of doing stuff like this in the past so I don't hate anyone, but I think these things should have explanations.
